Arcadia – the fire-breathing stage that has wowed Glastonbury night-time crowds for several years – is coming to Boomtown Fair this year.

Arcadia have brought a downsized version of their fire and lightning stage to other festivals before – notably Glade Festival in 2009 – but Boomtown organiser Lak Mitchell emphasises that this will be the full-sized Arcadia as seen at Glastonbury, with added pyrotechnics and laser wizardry.

And, in keeping with popular rumours and theories about the year 2012, Lak says there will be a strong post-apocalyptic flavour to the setting: “Strange scenes have been unfolding during this sleepy winter in Boomtown. A monstrous mechanical beast known as Arcadia Spectacular has crash-landed and seized a whole area of downtown Boomtown! As an unprecedented festival exclusive, the likes of which have only ever been seen at the UK’s biggest festival Glastonbury; Boomtown will feature the one and only incredible new Arcadia Spectacular show; a fusion of post-apocalyptic huge moving sculptures, pyrotechnics, light and laser extravaganzas, aerial trapeze shows and a gargantuan Soundsystem. The Arcadia Spectacular is an epic, mind-bending assault on the senses that must be approached with caution – the faint-hearted have been warned!”

Boomtown Fair is being held at “a secret location” in the South of England from Thursday 9 August. “Super Eager Beaver” and “Eager beaver” tickets have already sold out but a range of tickets can still be bought through this link.
