Had a WICKED time this year! I can't believe the amount of peeps who left early (some before the music even started ?!?!). Met up with camp GT (with my brother Phil and Portman the mentalist), bumped into loads of peeps from last year, met loads of randoms, danced like a nutta in wellies (blisters are still proper killing me!), and saw some amazing talent on stage!

Had a wicked random time wandering round sunday evening after the music stopped with 'Gabba Grandad' and soundsystem playing vsnares...got loads of people up and dancing!

highlights for me were:

- KJ Sawka (amazing live drumming!)
- Dreadzone
- Beardyman
- Apparat
- Squarepusher

Summed up - a wicked festival with a 'fuck-this-weather-lets-get-on-it' attitude so big respect to the organisers and ALL the peeps that made sure they were going to enjoy it whatever mother nature decided to throw at us! :wackyhat:

Best Glade ever.........

Postby dizybird25 on 24 Jul 2007, 11:53

This was my first Glade festival and despite the rain and shitty start to Froday we had a great time! Fantastic party and all things considered I think the organisers did quite well. My only complaint was the cash machines....we literally ran out of money and couldnt get anymore so did put a slight dampner on the whole thing. Will definately be going again

That was ace (and the ensuing amiable genre-name-shouting war with Speedy). Squarepusher may be the fucking daddy, but he's got a way to go to match Gabba Grandad.

I gotta agree with the positive lot here. A festie is what you make of it: we all decided right from the first drop of rain that we werent gonna let the mud ruin our weekend. the music was amazing, the people were amazing and that's all that mattered for me! Roll on glade 2008

Sperge wrote:Seeing Dreadzone up on the main stage, visibly putting a big grin on people's faces, was one of my Glade 'moments'. :)

+1. I remember we got on the main stage at 11.30 to get a good spot for dreadzone and then waited there for 2 hours for them to come on. When we heard the origin stage fire up we decided to give up and go and dance there. On the way back we saw the glade stage was still empty but then as we got closer we suddenly heard someone on stage shout something like 'this is what you've been waiting for: DREEEAADZOOONE!!' and we all looked at each other, broke into massive grins, legged it over to the dance floor and danced like nutters all through their immense set :D what a great moment!

I had perhaps the best festival ever, maybe even better than last years. the mud didn't bother me and rain wasn't so bad that it stopped me doing anything. overkill flooded but was back up and running later so thats all good. met some crazy people (the crowd at glade is easily the best), ran around with friends generally being stupid having a laugh and not being harassed by security.

vapor tent was awesome, especially Jim Masters and Marc Houle who I wasn't expecting to like. Really hypnotic and that track that eventually culminated in a long really high frequency sceam was mental! Didn't see half the acts I wanted to see, there was too much other good stuff going on.

my only critisisms are the lack of preparation for mud (not enough straw and metal walkways, and the car park on monday), and no free lineup schedule on the way in.

definitely back next year, pending the license. :wackyhat:

We knew it was going to rain but i do not think anyone expected floods and glade did amazingly well considering the state of the surrounding cities

Didn't know that. I had to buy a programme and tear the lineup page out.

I've just opened my bag and found a programme. How it got there I have no idea and it's in pretty much brand new condition.

A bit useless but a nice memento :D

At first I was worried that my phone had been nicked (why the fuck I left it in there I don't know), but luckily I found it at the bottom of my bag this morning. So in the end all they got away with was a can of Stella and a bottle that looked like it contained cider but was infact full of my piss. I hope they enjoyed it!

Bizarrely enough exactly the same thing happened to me...?! Someone went through all my stuff (either leaving or not finding my wallet which only had cards anyway). And yes they also took a half full cider bottle full of pee. :D The only thing that pissed me off about that was that they didn't zip the tent back up afterwards. Thankfully, coming back after work at 6am Sunday morning it hadn't rained any more so my stuff was still dry. *phew*

I hope they had a good swig of both. Festival justice!

Many thanks for a great Glade festival!

We arrived on Friday and had to be towed by a Land Rover into our parking space. After taking 5 hours to make a 2 hour journey, we got stuck 20 yards from our parking space!

This was our 3rd Glade and we were going with 2 other couples who'd never been before and were going on our recommendation.

We found ourselves saying to the newbies, "normally we'd sit on the grass here" or "the flags normally shield you from the sun here". Instead we were ankle deep in mud.

The most amazing thing though, is despite all the negatives that were beyond anyones control, everyone agreed it was an amazing festival and we're all looking forward to next year.

Well done yet again to the Glade organisers, you did a great job. Even the security guys had a sense of humour!

See you next year....

My thoughts:

Absolutely loved it! If it wasnt for the mud this would have been the best year yet, but unfortunately the lack of being able to sit down and chill, especially at ID spiral which is where i spend most of my daytime means that last year is still tops for me. Of course this isnt the organisers fault though!

Security were fine and decent, happy and cheerful from what i saw. I didnt see any dodgy security unlike last year. Police seemed to have fucked off by friday night :D (might have been due to the weather and having to sort out other places).

I loved how no one gave a shit about the weather and carried on regardless, despite me having cuts and blisters on my toes and feet now...we came up with a new word..you dont "stomp" at the glade this year, you "squotch" :D We were actually glad when it rained again on saturday as it made the ground easier to move through. The liquid tent seemed to live up to its name literally and the area around there was stupidly trecharous, especially at 4am in the morning when everyone is a bit spangled, its like robots in slow motion going through that bit.

Algorithm seemed interesting, if a little weird. I loved nectar temple though, we saw some crazy shamanism film there on the friday night and saw a bit of a speaker on the sunday i think it was. I dont really believe in the things the guy was talking about but i found it interesting to hear other peoples views on things (he was going on about consciousness "flowers" and how we are all connected at the root  ). Does anyone know where i can download or watch the films shown at nectar temple? I'd love to be able to watch them in my own time.

Sound levels were fantastic as usual, i dont understand peoples gripes with them...maybe my ears are supersensitive or just not fucked enough yet ;) I do think Overkill should be bigger though, we never went in the techno tent but really wanted to gabba the night away but couldnt because the place was so rammed.

Waterpoints again mysteriously vanished from the map despite them promising they would be down by the stages...fairly annoying.

To wrap up though i had an amazing weekend, saturday night was the first time i tried mdma and absolutely loved it, krafty kuts and ali b were amazing! Despite being a bit of a psy head we spent a lot of time in the breaks because it was just so much fun...even other stages seemed to be playing a lot of breaks. Rex and Mood Deluxe were awesome at liquid.

one last thing..did Atomic Hooligan actually play? I really wanted to see them but when we went over i think dreadzone were still playing :(

had a brilliant festival! maybe even better than the previous years. rain meant that i didn't end up sunburnt, dehydrated and could sleep better than in an microwaving tent. biggest downside was the tractor fiasco and getting out at the end... updated information on where artists were postponed until could have been better (i did keep checking at the information stage, but there wasn't much news), and water points were totally not as abundant as they were on the map. (at least the bad weather meant we didn't need them as much)

mudhole watching was hilarious, but so cruel, i'm definitely going to hell for being part of the crowd that waits for people to fall in giant mudholes. i shat myself when i saw security fall in. security folk and even the police i talked to were friendly.

roll on glade 2008.. whatever the weather.
