I heard a rumour that one of the trucks at the top of the hill nearly fell due to a landslide on Sunday? Is that true?

With regards to the cashpoints...um, sorry to sound pedantic but could you not arrange your finances before you arrived? I did. Saved me queueing for hours. Where I live we have cashpoints outside every bank, some shops and even free standing ones in garages. Weird.

Also...through some power of uncanny foresight I also sacrificed some back-pack space for waterproofs, wellies and plastic bags to keep things dry. These miracles of science - again available from a local store - helped go a long way to making unfortunate weather a lot more tollerable.

From what I recall there was a thread on here about the weather running for days, everyone agreed that it was going to be a soggy one.

£100 in my bra...got me some funny looks but always had cash on me. Didn't lose any. And didn't have to queue for the cashpoints.

Someone told me on the Friday they were queuing for ice-cream and got me all over excited but it was the cashpoints. Haha

Now Ice Cream is something I would always gladly queue for...specially if it comes with hot fudge sauce and little sparkly sugary sprinkly things. :D

To be fair I think I know exactly what you're talking about there - I think that was Friday right? ISTR someone mentioning this had been complained about and someone had a word with security to explain that they weren't allowed to randomly search people on site for no reason. Personally I hope you remembered their ID number and complained about them.

Which toilets are you on about? The two blocks next to where I was camped by welfare both had taps next to them. Or do you want a tap next to each individual portapotty?

richfurness wrote:2 cash machines between 14,000 people is not good enough!!!!!

Pardon? There was a bank of 8 machines in a tent next to the main bar?! Personally I didn't use them though - I always enter a festival with enough cash to last the weekend (or till I get paid!) which equals no queueing...

SparklyFairyType wrote:I heard a rumour that one of the trucks at the top of the hill nearly fell due to a landslide on Sunday? Is that true?

Almost - It was tilted at probably a 20 degree angle after coming off the trackway and they were worried it would fall and crush the nearby tents. I was pitched 20 feet away and had real trouble trying to assist security (who were being crap and confrontational) evicting a K'd up couple from their tent right on the potential flight path who just wanted to **ck/sleep and didn't grasp the concept of mortal danger unlike the other people who were most keen to get out of the way.

ThatPrickGav wrote:Obvivously the weather wasn't expected to be that bad, but it seemed pretty certain was gonna rain for couple of days.

Listening to Radio 4 on the way home (yeah yeah, whatever) I heard the phrase "worst flooding in living memory" used several times...

adbar wrote:and the toilets nearest where we were camping were never emptied over the whole weekend.

As I understand it, the contractors who empty the loos managed to get their poo sucker stuck offsite at one point (I think a chunk of Saturday?) but I didn't think any of the loos spent more than 24 hours before being emptied?

Ah well, I had a ****ing brilliant weekend but then I had a dry tent and sleeping bag and plenty of food with me! And as echoed elsewhere - was brilliant to see everyone pulling together. If I could I'd change the thread to "Fuck the weather" instead!
