I'm genuinely scared... NOT because I'm concerned about getting caught with anything illegal.. but because I'm sh*t scared of alsatians and I don't want them sniffin around me smelling my fear :( Why can't they use staffies, or chihuahuas......?

Police dogs get intensively trained and will be under complete control of the police officer...though I agree they are big and scary looking for sure...

i thought it was Springer Spaniels for sniffing out illegal substances; they're friendly enough dogs..

Nothing to worry about

I know it's an old cliché, but they've got a job to do. I'm sure a lot of police officers privately feel the 'war on drugs' is bobbins, but that's neither here nor there.

Hmm, I don't know.. I always used to see alsatians at dance events in the past... they're the only dogs that scare me....

Bobby - i guess you're right, I just can't help my irrational worries that they'll chase me and bite me :D :(

Keep some doggy biscuits handy? Not sure if you would get done for bribing an "officer" of the law though :D

The TVP also bought a GE Ion Track ( http://www.geindustrial.com/ge-interlogix/iontrack/ ), I expect to see that beast around the area....

With the Thamnes Valley police conviction that all festival goer is likely to be a drug dealer/user and the 98% of UK bank notes covered of class A traces, it sounds like a long weekend of false positive and strip search ahead... (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_east/4096562.stm)

Alsations aren't used as sniffer dogs, its springer spaniels that are ussually used for having a good ol' wiff.

Hmm.... I've already expressed my feelings about the police on this board before so I won't bother doing it again at length. I'll just say that I've rarely found them to be anything other than an oppressive presence, and most definitely not to be trusted. I'll be at Glade, of course, but I'll be looking over my shoulder the whole weekend.

What an unusual accent that policeman has, sounds like he's denying his inner scouser.

I've never had any problems with the police at festivals though I do steward at most of them. I bet none of the police officers want to be there - I would feel like I was spoiling the party. And unless Glade was within a fortress having the police does make me feel safer.

I don't really have a problem with an increased presence so long as their heightened activity doesn't border on intrusiveness to our festival fun and field-based frolics. When it crosses that line, that's when I am not a happy bunny.

As long as they don't prowl the campsite I'm happy.

the police really have their prioritys wrong, they should be out there stopping rapists and murders not bothering people at a festival that has very little history of violence.

I am all for the police been there in appropriate numbers to make sure nothing bad happens but if your not hurting any one else than whats the problem?!
