"My Tent got swept away, everything is totally wet...Glade clearly had no contingency planned for rain, don't bother coming down its a fuckin' nightmare.
They are letting nobody on-site at this time, Thatcham station is CLOSED. I'm coming home now, no point in staying"

I received that text message from a good mate on-site about 45 mins ago.

Make your own minds up.

I may go trow but Friday is a total write-off

I read it as a disbelief 'bullshit' comment :)

My mate will call me shortly after he's spoken to the promotor but there's some good info on that thread:

OK, just spoken to someone on site.
Overkill Stage is totally flooded
the bottom of the valley (i.e. where the stages are) is a bit like a river
The rain has eased off a bit and things appear to be improving
People are having it at the Glade Stage and the Origin Stage, apparently.
Wellies are essential, be prepared!

Just spoke with Glade organisers

They said the festival IS going ahead, and confirmed the Overkill stage is CURRENTLY closed, however, they stressed that the stage is being checked as water recedes, and said they hope to re-open it this evening - though "we can't guarantee that" they warned.
Otherwise, all stages and tents are open on site, and once local transport and road problems (lots of floods) are resolved they will press on with the event. Though the organisers warn festival goers to expect Glastonbury in the rain conditions, at least until there have been a few hours sunshine.
Hope this helps

Postby gladehopeful on 20 Jul 2007, 13:50

Seriously I have a mate at a pub a few miles away trying to get in. He's telling me the way in's flooded and no-ones allowed in or out. Heard the same from a mate inside...............Can anyone confirm it's ok to get in now?

More news....

Postby gladehopeful on 20 Jul 2007, 14:09

Thanks for the update, info is really hard to get, we're just holding off on leaving until we can find out the road in is clear.

So what's the deal...is the road in closed by the authorities or the Glade organisers? Does it look a health risk?

EDIT: text from a friend outside waiting to get in:

"The road into the village has been closed by the police...the M4 is supposed to be a nightmare, there has been a mudslide with the junction off the A34 so I couldn't head back home if I wanted to! My mates there have said that the music is on. I am going to sit it out here for the next coupla hours and play it by ear."
