its from the m-nus party at the winter music conference with magda, hawtin, troy pierce, and john gaiser. the magda one is fantastic. looks like richie's protege has surpased the great man himself!

Really can't wait for Magda, more so than Hawtin. Seen a few youtube vids and heard a few sets of hers amd she rocks it every time. Proper funky minimal techno and techy house. Nasty!

Seen her a couple of times, very impressive. Recommended. 8)

Anyone else slightly disappointed with her set? I was really really looking forward to her, but thought it just wasn't loud enough in there and most of her stuff just didn't grab hold of me.
She's darn sexy though!

I thought her set was the best of the night even though she was an hour late! Quality stuff, and yes, sexy as fuck! Richie Hawtin and Marc Houle were shockingly bad though :( complete let down IMO.
Mr May made up for it on the techno front on saturday. It was a fuckin belter of a set!

I thought Marc Houle was complete pants, enjoyed Magda and MOST of Hawtin, though it was a bit too loop-y for my liking some of the tiem.

Derrick May on the other hand? WOW. Best set of the weekend. No doubt.

Agreed, Derrick May was absolutely blinding. So much so i've already checked when he's playing next over here. Lost @ SE1 on August 26th and then a Hi-Tek Soul night at Ministry in October. Might just have to go to both!

Ain't the loops the thing for Magda/Hawtin? Thought is was all about building the layers and unleasing the beats.
Cheers

thought magda was blinding even tho her needle kept jumping . Marco Houle was nice but not amazing , thought Hawtin tore it up (yes very fxy/loopy) Probs highlights of the festival for me

Saw 20 mins of Hawtin, thought it was incredibly dull.

Vince Watson and Jim Masters (his 2nd set) though, now they were fucking wicked!

It aint what you've got, it's what you do with it!

Hawtin's set, last half hour especially was too dependent on his drum loops for me - not enough going on beyond that to keep me interested. Magda on the other hand kept the balance nicely tight all the way through...

So, Derrick's playing the next Lost then?
