help me to understand... ambient? psy? trance? techno?

Postby dug on 01 Aug 2007, 22:13

ok - here's the thing - i've been into acoustic music for fukin years... did the glade this year on the rabbit hole crew and luved the vibe... sunday evening i found myself at the ID Spiral dome and blissed out to the gorgeous sound that was going down... thing is i have NO idea what the hell i was listening to - could have been ambient trance... fluffy techno... psy vibe electronica meat and 2 veg for all i know.... SO here's the thing - the overall vibe was definately ambient, but it had enough of a beat to dance to - but nothing too banging... there was certainly some melody - definately light and twinkly - uplifting....

SO - give me something to go on people - what should i be looking for - how do i get more of it and where the hell to i find it.....

help me out - let me in - thanks to anyone who can take the time to give me something to go on ;)

it was probably minimal ambient tech house being mixed in to some cerebral psy trance remixed by an earthy techno artist

I'd be hard to give the ID stuff a genre, theres elements of ambient, big beat, IDM, minimal house and progressive in there, and of course world fusion too. I'd go on ID Spiral website, take the 'lucky dip approach' - think you can sample the tunes, and get some CDs, they all seem pretty darn good and in keeping with the area's vibe. Happy chillin!
