Sound levels at Overkill

Postby Sperge on 25 Jul 2007, 14:26

Oh jeez, sorry about this, I was trying to delete a post of mine and hit the "delete thread" by mistake.

OK, let's start again as clearly some people have an issue with the Overkill sound levels. Once again, sorry for cocking it up there.

Were you trying to delete the post which ended with "why don't you go and find yourself a different festival"? Cos that's a pretty rotten attitude to have.

Tsk tsk

To clarify, my issue wasn't with the sterling work to get the stage open after the floods. It was with the lack of a Funktion One rig as promised, leading to the sound levels being stupidly low for most of the weekend. When you look at it that way, the weather isn't really relevant as we'd still be complaining about the broken promise even if it was a scorcher! An explanation would be nice - if the mud flooded the F1 stacks and they had to be replaced with a poorer quality rig, fair enough. If not, it's a bit gutting.

The lack of F1 sound, despite promises that Overkill would have it, is a genuine issue and I promise I'll raise it with them. It would be even better if Ned or Punksi address this point, as I presume they would have the most idea of what was going on there.

Yeah no F1 rig was a disapointment, but the Opus one was pretty got imo
the weather is extremly relevent to the sound system and the levels tho,
cause the engineer has to obay what the enviroment peeps r saying,
not what the crowd or he thinks the level is like in the arena,
and the weather is a big factor in that...

theres a big artical bout it on the F1 site, about the sound at the killers in glastonbury, not everyones taste (ormine lol)

but in a more objective disscusion about levels its a lot more relevent than a small rave in aldermaston!

Thanks for that, rr.

Have just googled for it and found this link, which is presumably the one you mean: http://www.funktion-one.com/Glastonbury ... levels.htm

The Underkill stage was the biggest let down of the whole festival. Not to say i didn't have time of my life, it's just a crap when you're wanting to rave your tits off but instead find yourself having a quite conversation in there and paying no attention to the music.

Bit of a bummer.

Time of my life... at the festival, rather than at the overkill.

Every time I went past Overkill it sounded pretty good, but way WAY too packed to even consider going in. If everyone here hated the levels in the tent so much why was it always so busy!? Found the sound everywhere else awesome, especially around Origin. I had a great time jumping in and out of the the sound zone.....

because there were some amazing artists in there, despite sound levels!
of course, having the levels at what enduser had them all weekend would of been much more :wackyhat:
