Techno Recomendations please!!

Postby pd2h on 03 May 2007, 11:58

Having not been to Glade (yet) and knowing very little about the Techno music scene I would really appriciate some recomendations on the Techno lineup as it would seem rude not to check some out... :fear:

Cheers

Of the people who are playing Glade, check out The Black Dog.

I don't know much about UK techno, so I'd be interested to see what others say, too.

You should check out the m_nus record label which is run by Richie Hawtin (the uber feuher of techno) he is playing at glade is and probably the most pioneering techno artist of his generation. Also check out the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Matthew Dear, Marc Houle, Barem, Magda, Adam Beyer, Marco Corola, Jeff Mills.. there is so many good artsits!

Er, ok then for British Techno, check out Surgeon, Chris Finke and Ben Sims. For some free mixes and tunes, the Split podcast is good (available on iTunes or somewhere on Splitmusic.net) which is Sims and Finke's night/label. British Murder Boys are awesome too if you can get hold of any of their mixes - plenty dotted about the net.

The above I'd basically file under "does not f**k about", whereas Vince Watson's playing on the Derrick May night, which is very lush techno and worth a look. Oh, and both Alex Smoke albums (incommunicado and paradolia) are brilliant in my book.

I'd be very interested to hear what everyone else thinks though - always up for broadening my techno horizons!

It's so bloody unfair, Overkill having such a wicked line-up at the same time as the M_nus showcase.

Gone off of Guy McAffer after everything he released on RAW after about number 10 started sounding exactly the same... he's done some wicked stuff, but there's better acid techno producers around.
