Venetian Snares: Total Disappointment

Postby JackSauce on 23 Jul 2007, 16:44

What a diva! So disappointed. He walked off after 2 songs, because he didn't like the sound levels ( I asked one of the techs while I was helping put the straw down in the Overkill on Sunday).

:x

What a little girl. No-one else had a hissy fit. He has definately gone down in my estimations.

He was stressing about the severe sound restrictions imposed on the Overkill stage, he was the most disgusting man I've ever met... he spat at the sound guy!

Total animal... beyond Diva, just a grade A prick

I don't think he ment to piss everyone off, I'd of happily danced to the volume, but if like he says it was affecting his mixing then I can forgive him for a tantrem. shure I was a little piss of he walked of, perhaps he shouldve made more effort but in my mind hes still a musical legend and a huge inspiration. He was still in the intrest of his fans, letas face it, a few minites into him starting everyone was shouting: "Turn it up" and as it wasn't that load, the peoples voices were easly heard over the music, he could hardly ignore that.

In short, disapointing, but still a big fan and would love to see him again.

ye this was exactly the same as triptyk, peoples voices were above the sound levels so he went a bit mad again.
loved what was played but was v.annoyed he walked, although he was on for more then 2 songs wasnt he? seemed like at least 30 mins.
thankfully i saw him the night before in at the electrowerks along with kj sawka & end.user, fucking fantastic night!!!
worth the sleep outside mcdonalds in the pouring rain till the first tube in the morning :?

Reading his explination of the events I side with VS even more, he does look like a bit of an arse for doing it but if the sound engineer was being a prick who can blame him.

"would have kept on playing had my stage sound not been sabotaged, not alot to do at that point. as I said "when I took it up with the soundguy he decided to only run highs into my monitors from that point on. so I fucked off."

believe me, the last thing I want to do is disappoint a bunch of people that have to hang out in the mud for days."

He could punch me in the face and I'd still let him off.

I'm actually adictid to his music though, like a junky is to smack. I listen or think of it most of the day, and seeing the brife set at glade just makes me so dam anxious to see a full one.

He should have gone on the main stage, not only would we have been able to dance, but this whole sound issue may never have happend.

Would be good if we could have the sound man's side of this. I'd like to know if it was true that he messed around with VS's sound - and why. Some artists do have hissy fits, and must be pretty difficult to work with, but there's no justification for deliberately trying to wreck someone's set - if that's what happened.

IF this is true, what a very unproffesional sound man. It would be interesting to see if the other side of the story comes out, although I dont see that happening. Even if it did happen who would own up to doing omething like that.

If anyone should have had a loud set, it should have been snares. The volume in Overkill was pathetic. Total disappointment.

I dunno which way to go really......

I love Snares, but walking off was a bit shit. He's always been a mardy bastard but the fact was we'd all come to rave, and the sound levels really put a dent in the weekend. I was stood at the front with my mate, but we could still talk to each other without any difficultly. I can't even do that at my Uni's Union...
