will there be another glade

Postby sick bastardly on 24 Jul 2007, 14:41

whats the likelyhood that glade will continue?
the site will have been completely trashed due to the mud and i doubt it will have recovered by next year. do you recon there will be another glade festival, and if so will it be at another site?
can anyone shed some light on this situation?
in my mind they should have found another site for this year to from the outset. almost everyone i spoke to was most excited by the overkill lineup and i really dont understand why they even bothered having the festival there if one of the conditions was that the stage with the best lineup had to be barely audiable at night. i really struggled to hear the music over peoples conversations and have in all honesty never heard that kind of music sound so fucking terrible.
why is it that every other stage, even the small stages like the roots tent got one of them killer surround sound systems that could stay loud throughout the night but the overkill got a system that sounded like wank and distorted on every little bit of bass. was this due to the flooding of the overkill on friday or was it meant to have a shit system from the start. they did well to fix the stage after fridays floods but the sound was utterly shit
shame on you glade organisers, i was bitterly dissappointed with the sound and really thought you could have sorted this out after last years shambles. every other stage sounded awesome but the overkill was for some reason left sounding shit.
i have been to glade every year its been on and am seriously doubting whether to bother next year when i can hear my favourite music louder and clearer on the stereo in my bedroom without having to try shut out the sound a thousand conversations.

Of course there'll be another Glade.

And if this year's weather has put a few moany cunts off going, so much the better. :)

i don't reckon that site will take more than a month or so to recover, it takes a lot more than being churned up and drenched to kill grass off!
plus it was nicely fertilised from all the overflowing toilets ;)

i don't know why everbody is/was whining so much about the audio levels in overkill, if people would shut the f up and just rave it was fine it was plenty load enough hanging over the barrier as well as in the middle. ok yes my ears didnt hurt but i still maneged to rave like a nutter and have a good time, the guhs who where running overkill put in a serious amount of effort to make us all be able to enjoy our favourate music in as safe a condition as the could make it

I had already mentioned this to a few people at the weekend.

Whether there will be another one at that particular site is probably doubtful – it is (was) an area of natural beauty and bearing in mind we are currently having one of the wettest summers on record it probably won’t have time to recover by next year.

After all they did have to keep Glastonbury closed for 2 years to let the ground recover.

Dunno about that, Shazza, as Glastonbury in recent years has closed every four years regardless of the weather. Also, Worthy Farm is a working dairy farm so the needs of the land are different to Wasing's anyway.

The organisers are very attached to Wasing, they think it's perfect for their festival, so they'll do everything they can to stay there. But admittedly the extreme weather damage of this year is a new factor, something their opponents may well try to exploit.

if the glade organisers want to add some beef to their argument to ensure this fantastic event goes ahead again in the same spot - ask the locals like me who went AND FECKING LOVED IT -

Ive been to countless other festics & nine glastos etc, but having THIS on my doorstep shite weather or no was a fucking RESULT! - bollox to the weather, massive thanx to the organisers and BIGGEST EVER thanx to all the lovely smiley people of ALL AGES who went, persevered and made it what it was, TOP.

I saw tons of locals there - all happy as pigs in shit - all of whom will be going "amongst the people" like disciples & spreading the good word...............

im not being a moany cunt. its not the weather putting me off, its the fact that overkill sounded GASH. if you read my message properly then youl realise this. i went to glade for the music. 90% of what i wanted to see was on the overkill and it was the ONLY stage not to get the promised ambisonic surround shizzle. it sounded ten times worse than last year, a quiete distorted mess with no impact at all. regardless of the floods the overkill didnt get the promised rig. yeah were lucky it went ahead at all and fair play to them for sorting it but they still never had the rig they promised us. every other stage sounded awesome with the promised system. reread my message i didnt complain about the rain, in fact everything apart from the overkill rig within the organisers control i was happy with. i only mentioned the rain as i was concerned about the site. the music at overkill is why i went to glade and i have a right to express my dissappointment. quite simply they let us down. ya cunt

You are a liar as well as a moany cunt then, as that post was another long moan. Don't come to Glade, you won't be missed. And if me and Reggie see you, we'll nail your head to one of the trees, you moany lying cunt. Now don't make us swear in front of our mum again.

Fucking too right. Just popped back on here to see how it was getting on, and the number of people railing the organisers/techs/whoever for just about anything is ridiculous.

I had a great time, despite the shit weather, despite wearing wellies 2 sizes too small, despite getting drenched, despite having to queue for ATMs. I really, really enjoyed it. Definitely coming along next year! ^^
