The Portishead ATP was a good lineup... but I think they might actually eclipse it with this one.

I'm definitely there, if you can't tell by my avatar.

You buy tickets for a chalet, the smallest of which are for 2 people.

Manorexia's playing :wackyhat:
Their last gig in London was fucking amazing. Isis and Torche are going to be great as well, now I just need to find someone who wants to come with.

Well, think my friend and 2 other people are up for it but if that falls through I'll get back to you on that. If you're still struggling I'll see if we can get a 5 berth so you can join us.

At BF weekender some people were saying that ATP is actually better. I dont think this could possibly be true. But it does always seem to have an interesting line up.

Is it true Godspeed You Black Emperor! played once?

i think so.. it is the kind of festival which is perfect for them.. sonic youth, nick cave, iggy pop, dinosaur jr., trail of dead, shellac, LFO, Aphex.. they all played at atp

but its a different thing from the bangface weekender.. that's more comparable to the bloc festival. which is an indoor electronic festival thing.

Glade = hippy festival with guests invited from other mentalist and mainstream genres.

BFW = mentalist festival with guests invited from other random genres, but definitely no hippies.

ATP = highbrow festival with guests invited from the furthest flung corners of every genre imaginable.

They all sound amazing to me and two of them definitely are. I'm trying BFW in 2009

yeah that pretty much sums it up very well.. i might try the bangface thing next year if i find other likeminded maltese mentalists to fill up a chalet..

i made the painful decision to give this year's nightmare before xmas a miss after four loyal years.. going to see leonard cohen and i couldnt possibly afford yet another holiday this year

is it as good as bloc?
been to both blocs and had wicked times at both. not as good as dedbeat though. went to all 4 of them. i think the bloc and dedbeat weekenders are more underground than bangface. for me bloc has more to offer on the music tip than BF(3 rooms of electro/techno) , but the BF atmosphere wins hands down. was mainly in the back room at BF. mike dred and model 500 being my fave's.. :)

ATP ROCKS!!!
I saw Sonic Youth in 2004, then went to ATPv's The Fans where you got to choose half the line up, Portishead on and the Explosions in the SKy on. Its great at christmas Aphex played two nights and BLEW ME AWAY!!!!

Its well worth every penny-wern't as keen this year but they have two more in spring.

Realease the bats at holloween is cool as well but is sold out thdown

ATP is probably the only chance I'll get to see Shellac. Hopefully Melvins will invite them.

Out of interest to the people that have been to ATP before at Minehead. I'd be interested to know what the venue is like? Would it be a rave paradise? :)

It would, pretty much. I've not been to Camber Sands in person, but the Minehead Butlins (aka Somerwest World) looks favourable. It is pretty nice and facilites are good. The big central stage would be absolutely sick as fuck as a rave venue. I think SWW is a lot bigger than Camber though. It's bloody expensive if you don't go for self-catering (around £10 a pub meal or £5 a hotdog or there's KFC  on site) but you can always leave the site and wander across the road into the town if you just want to get a takeaway. There's a massive Tesco 2 mins walk away too, for those last-minute provisions or early-morning munchies.

I'll let you know - I know someone who was interested, not sure if she'd be willing to share as I suspect it'll be one room with two beds :D
