The bloody Klaxons, the "not really rave at all" darlings of the NME.

Their music is OK.
On record, their mixture of rock and dance works well, and is different from the likes of LCD Soundsystem and !!! et al.
For dance heads, their sound is not dancey enough, and live they sound nothing like a dance band at all, a token synth being their only 'dancey' thing.
The whole new rave movement is a sham, only followed by kids who were themselves born in 1993.
The mercury people are not exactly known for their good taste. Lest we forget that they gave the prize to M People in 1995  .
Usually, the short list is quite good, but the winner is arbitrary.

Don't really know where this post is going, but anyway....

OK, so M People was 1994, but ne'er mind.

It's not the public who decide the Mercury Prize, it's some panel of 'experts', isn't it?

Yeah its a panel of industry folk. Klaxons are alright if they werent a tarty indie band with a synth they would be better. They're alright though, I quite like not over yet, or whatever that song is called. The whole new-rave is all to do with the NME not any of the bands, I also read that it was sposed to have more to do with sounding like new wave than being about rave. Hasn't really stopped all the sheep taking too many drugs and liking dance music. Roll on the next fashion, if anyone catches wind of what it might be can you tell me, I want to make some money.

Clothes-wise it's 'nu-grave' as a backlash against the neon fashions of the summer you should now be dressing as goths and punks basically, but in a fashionable way.

Um yeah....
