Boots v wellies

Postby Jake Burns » 12 Jun 2012, 20:04

Looks like it will be wet this weekend. I'm trying to recall how muddy it got last year - especially on the sunday when it rained a lot. The big question - boots or wellies?

Boots are easier to wear, warm & usually just better
Wellies wont get wet

Wellies are only needed if it becomes a Quagmire (Giggity) which it wont so boots all the way, fon't think I will be bringing any other footwear!

Boots are a good balance for dancing in but staying comfy. If you're coming by car put your wellies in the car and retrieve them in the case of mud-based nightmares.

Wellies are the footwear of choice for clueless idiots, and teenage girls. Enough said really.

Oh, actually, another thing, Hunters are quite comfy so if you see a teenage girl wearing a pair, it's a very good ice breaker. And later, when her feet are fucking freezing, you can comfort her.

See, wellies aren't all bad.

Well, there was a pretty big puddle at the entrance to Overkill, where the rain was pouring off the dome, it was at least half an inch deep and 6 feet wide, but that was about it. Everywhere else was, well, just a bit damp

Hiking boots all the way.

Wellies are shit for dancing in, standing in, walking in. They're not even good at stopping you slipping on mud. Or even keeping your feet dry (at least not the cheapo green ones that I've ever used at festies).

They're only good when the mud is too deep for hiking boots. And if it gets to that point, I'm fucking off. There's no "must see" act to keep me there right to the end, although the burning of the Pyromid would be fun to see admittedly.

There's nothing in the forecasts to suggest that it will get to anything like that level though. It rained quite a bit last year and the ground held up really well.
Top one. Nice one. Get sorted.
