Top one. Nice one. Get sorted.

If you have any useless mates who are still dithering about coming to Glade, show them this article: http://www.ravetalk.co.uk/glade-festival-2009.shtml

No, you're very right, thats why one weekend a year its nice to have a good chunk of what i want.

I just dont jump on MC slating bandwagons. Nor any other bandwagon. Fact is MC's enhance some people's nights. Some piss all over it. I still think we should be allowed loud volumes, including MC's, at 4am in the morning, one weekend a year. I have had many a night where the MC has said something and I have agreed with the simplest thing they've said because they can highlight a united feeling. The ones that keep reminding me where I am can get fucked.

I have to agree with this. While it is blatently unfair to compare an indoor festival that caters for 2500 people to Glade it really is dissapointing how much better the sound was at Bloc.

The sound from the F1 rig in Bass Bloc and the tech bloc rig (HK-audio R-series) were the best sound systems I have heard at a festival and made a huge impact from the moment you walked into one of the arenas.

I had a word with myself at Glade this year and promised to not get annoyed about the sound as it kind of spoilt it for me in 2007. Yes it was better than last year but they still have a bit of work to do...

I still can't wait for the next Glade I just have a hope that the noise can be a little higher!

And the ones who:
- MC out of time
- skibbydibbydibby too much
- MC over tunes with lyrics (or worse, "sing" along)
- don't know when to shut up for two or three minutes and let everyone dance
- rap badly or inaudibly
- name check themselves or the DJ or the club after every other tune

I quite like MCs who:
- say "oh my god" with genuine feeling after a fucking ace breakdown
- spit humour not vitriol
- use the off beat for a bit of variety
- don't swear
- rap properly with audible lyrics
- can actually sing (the Aussie dude in the vest on Saturday afternoon at G06 was one of these)
- obviously know the tunes that are coming in and can even tell you the names occasionally
- beatbox

Dynamite is still one of the best I've heard.

You need to get out more! You can get that every weekend in Manchester. Come

MC's that rewind a track about 5 times!?!? infact any rewind at all is completely ineffective IMHO. But 4 or 5 times?!?!? this should actually be a prisonable offence.

Theres so many more MC's who do it wrong then do it right that a blanket ban at glade would be brilliant. I'm in full agreement with your lists tho baldmosher :)

I totally agree with all of the above. Especially the oh my god bit - thats kind of what I meant by them saying something and u just kind of go 'yeah thats what i was just thinking!!'.

I do need to get out more. But unfortunately I don't have everything I want right on my doorstep.

what is arguably worse is some twat on the bus chatting shit over a tune that no-one else can hear (possibly because it's only playing in his head)

I lurve MCing. But where I come from it's was called toasting, later DJing, and it's usually accompanied by Pulmonary Oedema inducing bass. Any complaints from anybody about Aba Shanti-I at the Weekender? I thought not. (Could have done with them at Glade in my opinion but I'm just a shit stirrer) PROPER MCing was originally your news at ten, sports report and social commentry all in one. With a bit of self promotion true but done in an entertaining way.

There is NOBODY today who can provide a commentary like Rankin' Joe, Josie Wales and the greatest of them all, Brigadier Jerry etc. and if you can point me to anyone today I'll be surprised. It's all down to the speed of the music. Random phrases are now chucked in like jumping on a spinning merry go round coz it's impossible to keep pace. You can't continuously speak and be understood at 160bpm+ so why bother?

no, no complaints and i agree about glade :) maybe next year?

i was reading about things bass on wikipedia the other day (sub-bass, infrasound and the (urban)legendary brown note):

"Loud concert levels of subwoofer arrays have been cited as causing lung collapse in individuals who are very close to the subwoofer, especially for smokers who are particularly tall and thin"

i always quite enjoyed that breathy feeling...

DnB (or hard dance) MCing is more about the sounds you make and when you make them, not the lyrics. DJ Rubbish was the best MC at Glade, by far.
