Have you ever been to someones house party, and the dudes got a pair of shity decks probably from argos, the conversation gets to mixing and one of your freinds mentions that you've been djing for a while. After everyones requested you go up to the decks and start doing your stuff.
Being so used to decks that actually coperate with what your hands tell them, you completly mess up and everyone thinks your rubbish. You say its cos the decks are shit, and they either don't belive you, or the owner gets really ofended.

This has happened to me twice. anyone?

hahahahah!!! classic!! nah, ive only ever played on technics, except on friday when i played on some random digital tings. they went up to +13!! it was amazing. i was mixing sooo fast. i just turned it up really loud so no one could hear if i was shit. they were weird decks, took me a good half hour to get used to em. they just didnt have that same feel as my technics. or any technics.

i do realise at some point that ill do the same as you though. haha. ever turned up at a party and theres belt drives *snigger* that happened once so i didnt mix :D

Same as, I got my Stantons about two years back now, and its the best investment I've ever made. I was in Saphires trying out a few decks in my £700 price range, and I just feal in love the moment my hand toached the spining record. I ran down the street to meet my mum in this cafe, and beged her to lend me £50. That £50 saved my life.
I'm coresing them as I speak.

Decks!!!!!!!!!

miss special k wrote:Good luck. Techincs have to be the best decks and they last forever. Bought mine second hand 6 years ago and they're still like new! Most clubs use them so its worth spending out the extra pennies on them! Happy mixing x

They're solid, but they're not as good as everyone makes out, unless you like carting them to parties etc. There are better decks to be had in the home DJ setup. If you can mix on anything else, you can easily mix on Technics. Just watch out for the rpm lock in the middle, it's a bitch.

I'm using Gemini PT 2000s but I've hardly used em since I got em nearly 3 years ago! :(

I've got a job lot of about 100 late-90s DnB that I haven't even got halfway through playing yet, and I can't mix for shit, so it's a steep learning curve.

I need to get some breaks I think.
