From 'My Game of Loving' off that White Noise album she did I get the impression that she was a bit of a go-er as well. PHWOAR!

i have been listening to all the old bbc radiophonic workshop sound effects lps all today and yesterday and all of her work i can find, it is all amazing! also if she produced the first ever techno track does that mean that techno spiritual birth place is England and not Detroit?

Well, it's debatable whether it's actually a "techno" track. The people who pioneered the Detroit techno sound and coined the name would never have heard of Delia or her music anyway. The word "techno" isn't even mentioned in that article, so where did that come from?

I thought it was more like the first ever breaks tune. So we came to the conclusion that she was a time traveller!! And she recorded the Dr Who theme as a clue, then pretended to invent techno/breaks. Future-woman!

Delia Derbyshire <- the first ever DJ name :D

i've spent most of today googling and reading about her - and this just supports the time travelling DJ hypothesis..

..from an interview

"How about these 'happenings' you were involved with? I know there was an event in 1966 at the Chalk Farm Roundhouse called Rave or Rave On, ..

... It was basically a concert of pre-recorded electronic music."

Proof!
