End of the night...?

Postby Christoph » 21 Nov 2008, 12:07

This is a question for the people who travel to London to go to Bangface, or indeed anywhere else.

As we are unable to crash round our mates house in London, we are wondering whether its best to try and stay up all night and get the earliest train back (which would be an amazing achievement for us sleepyheads) or to book a hostel (which will damage our wallets somewhat). We are going, one way or another, but I just wondered what other people do in this situation, as we don't very often venture away from home and could do with some advice!

Cheers

Stay until the end and grab an early train home, its the best way as long as you dont over-do it too early on in the night :D

which actually for bangface, is quite difficult as its bloody good fun what what

Well that's exactly the point, if it gets to, say 3 oclock and we have had our fill we are stuck there whether we like it or not - I like having the knowledge that Ive got somewhere to go if I get too sleepy/messy :)

Get the first train. BF kicks out at 6am and by that time Angel Tube is just about open and you can get yourself to a station. I have a bit of a homing instinct when the sun starts to come up... anything else but my own bed simply isn't good enough!

The first train thing's not that bad so long as you go easy on the booze. When I used to get early trains back from St Pancras I'd often not bother with the tube and just walk straight down Pentonville Road to the station, which is a good way to bring yourself back into the real world from the Inflatable Technicolour Bangland Experience. It's also fun to observe the end-of-night zombies vs beginning of day joggernutters culture clash at early o' clock. Having a clean top to change into can do wonders in terms of making you feel a bit more human and presentable, and it's a good idea to have some less mental music handy on a li'l mp3 player if required.

First train back, can lead to some interesting incidents though. On the way back from the Rephlex night I got stuck in Tring station with a massive synth I'd bought before going to the show and a rucksack. For 2 hours. On my own, feeling like death. It was truly, truly horrible

Most of the time it's all good though, find a seat, hood up, sleep until home, taxi, bed, done!

Aye, there's an excellent cafe 5 minutes away from Electrowerks just off Chapel Street market, down the road opposite Angel tube and first left. (There is also a cafe on Chapel Street itself but this is frequented by Electrowerks security and Islington Green police station on duty turnround :fear:!)

A coffee or two and an egg roll to set you up for the trials and tribulations of the homeward voyage...home in 50 mins!

First train back is the best way. Its not too long to wait as BF finishes at 6am. Why would you ever consider leaving at 3am? There's actually no need for it.

I know! I have to norm get to Wood Green if I'm staying at my mates (then a nice 15-20 min walk from the station to their house!...that norm sobers me up a bit)
It's easier I think to get 1st train home from liverpool st to Norwich though 'cos then can just sleep on the train for the way back...I rarely have this one though as norm stay in London :P

I think a Bangdormitory would be great! In fact, it should be a total fuckin party zone! Carry on the night in good style! IMHO, BF61 was my first Bangface expo and the night ended too quickly! I could've partied on for longer, although I probably would've been reduced to a dried-up, fucked-up husk.

Well, there's a St Christophers just down the road in Camden, so if there was enough interest, a group of bangers could look into booking a dorm room to crash in. If you're intending it as a bit of continuation/wind-down, though, do show some respect for folks in the other rooms, won't ya?!

You could always ask your mates in London to stop being such fannies and let you have a couple of hours kip...or there is that cafe that someone else was talking about in Angel...always the more 'composed' of the BF Hard Crew enjoying a cup of tea at 6.30am...
