FoI request to Hants Police re Glade

Glade Festival is Britain's biggest and best non-corporate electronic dance music festival, with a proper havin' it vibe. Now based at a stately home in Norfolk.

FoI request to Hants Police re Glade

http://www.ravetalk.co.uk/?p=629

As revealed in our front page story, Ravetalk has made a Freedom of Information request seeking full disclosure from Hampshire Constabulary of documents, correspondence and itemised billing related to the policing of Glade Festival at Matterley Bowl in Hampshire.

The actual request is at http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/g ... oing-64862

By law, Hampshire police must respond by 14 June 2010.

I don't want to reveal too much about why this request has been made at this stage, other than to say that it is related to the (lack of) transparency in the process by which police forces are drawing up their staffing plan and determining costs, especially when there is no right to appeal. :)

well done! i am willing to bet that they will cite public safety issues and refuse to disclose anything except the costs, saying it would place the public at risk at future events, but iirc there are a few levels of appeal you can go through after that. :D

4.32 It is good practice to keep a register of the events policed and the decisions on
policing levels and any abatement decisions taken. This will provide a validated
and transparent trail to cross reference future decisions and provide public
accountability. It is wholly appropriate that professional bodies will compare
operating costs of their businesses. Variations in costs relating to policing need
to stand scrutiny.

I doubt they will...!

Well, there's two places you can do exactly that. ;)

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ravetalkc ... 2067703354

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ravetalkc ... 8088329659

This is only part one, by the way. I'm making enquiries with a few people about the follow-up, which will be much more interesting. ;)

My big problem at the moment is that I'm still finishing off my move - and most of my stuff is still in boxes at the new place, which doesn't have broadband yet either. The timing of this Glade stuff couldn't have been at a more inconvenient time for me personally...
