Glade 2009 not at Wasing - confirmed

Glade Festival is Britain's biggest and best non-corporate electronic dance music festival, with a proper havin' it vibe. It's 16-19 July 2009, get those dates in your diary.

That was already as dead as Diana: psy-trance-only-glade-t6410.html#p93724

The next one is going to be that it will stay at Wasing after all and everyone will be issued headphones as the whole event will be a silent disco.

I bought my 2009 tickets without even knowing about this! WTF! I hope they find a venue that's
- not TOO much further to drive from Manchester (hell, there's fuck all in the midlands so if they want to move north a bit that'll suit me)
- not sat in a dip at the bottom of a hill
- not too close to posh people's houses

RIP Glade @ Wasing. A shame, but I was there for all of them, and Glade Festival probably did need to be set free from That Bloody Council if it could possibly do so. I hope the Wasing Estate is OK without Glade.

Aye! 'Twas a beautiful little spot...

Would it be possible to start a campaign to make the miserable old GITS who complained pay Aldermaston council, through increased council tax, the money that they have lost in licencing revenue?

And perhaps a little compensation for the local businesses who have lost sales? Something for the distress and upset caused to 12,000 peaceful, music loving folks?
Since July 20 1969, only eleven men have followed in Neil Armstrongs footsteps on the moon. Eleven. in nearly forty years. Pathetic. I mean, it's not rocket science is it?

Change can only be a good thing, IMO. Too many issues at Wasing. I think some people might come back and try it again, as the memories of 2006 fade.
It will hopefully feel like going for the first time again, except with the familiarity of Breaksday, Overkill and Origin.
Excellent!
Don't care where it is, really. If it's in the south west, there'll probably be more breakcore and psy trance crusties around, so Bring it on!

The village green has been improved in several ways, including an oak seat costing almost £2,000.

How quaint...nice to know they can spend £2000 on a chair :fear: In all seriousness it is sad for Aldermaston as i know there were so many lovely village folk there who supported it, who are now going to lose out on the extra money for their village :( But thats what you get when theres a few NIMBYs around...

Here's to a different village (potentially) getting extra support then!

But after years of wrangling over sound levels and policing costs, the final straw for organisers followed a review of the license prompted by a single Tadley resident.
Andrew Flaxman told a meeting of the council’s licensing sub committee in October that the music was still too loud.
The festival team fielded several former critics-turned-supporters to help fight its corner and there were 16 letters of support for the existing license terms.
Organisers also offered to liaise in future with residents as far afield as Tadley.
But the committee ruled that there should be a further reduction in sound levels at next year’s event.

Now that is utter madness. One bloke having a moan on his own and the council elects to tell them to turn it down even more?! Andrew Flaxman, you need a hobby/social life/girlfriend

He was moaning about it from Tadley? Jeez, the guy must be able to navigate with his ears like a bat.

Im really pleased its moving. and 'down south' is good, lots of greenery there and im from Brighton.

But im dead happy I went this year to the last ever Wasing Glade, i made 4 out of 5 years only missing the rainy one in 2007. It was a fantastic site and I have loads of great memories. But its time to move on and if it means louder and longer, then wicked.
