Glade's five-year plan for Wasing

Well, we've had this in our Glade 2008 licensing application thread since Friday (thanks Smiffy!) and on our news pages since yesterday.

I'm a bit surprised there's been so little comment on it, after all the moaning about the restrictions and people saying it should move to a new venue.

So what do people think about the Glade staying at Wasing and making it a semi-permanent home?

In a word......Poo!

Too much importance is placed on location, and the location now has too many restrictions with regards to sound and security.

The first Glade had a sense of a free party vibe about it, and lets face it thats now gone, and wont be returning......but its that vibe thats kept me going to them all since. However, when I look back at them all, they've all failed since that firt Glade to live up to the expectations I've had......dont get me wrong I've loved them all, but theres a vital element gone......it may not be commercial in sponsorship, but it does have a certain mass appeal now.

Mainly for me when i go to any night whether it be a club night or a festival, I want to be blown away by sound quality/visuals, I dont get out much so I tend to go to larger events and make the most of them, Glade failed on so many levels for me last year. I loved the lasers across the site on previous years (ironically there were none at 1st Glade), only Breaksday had a laser.....the visual screens were good in there and in the Liquid stage.....but other than that it was really poor visuals.....all the money got spent on a sound systems which were IMHO not up to the job, or were not at a level which I have grown to expect. I dont want to get drawn into an argument about the sound levels again, but I expect better!!!

Anyway I had hoped that they would explore new places, and possibly move to anther location, so that the sound could be improved with out, sacrificing the lasers etc.

Anyway, I'm 99% not going this year, I will probs try pasteurs new if I can go to anything this year.

I do think this is a huge error, what if the restrictions put on them for those 5 years are unworkable? What then? DO they then try for another site?

I hope that they get everything sorted and that this years is the best yet...and that if it is there for 5 years, then it goes from strength to strength!

Well I might be going this year, mainly because I will be going to uni in the coming years and probably wont be able to afford it, plus I might be able to get in as someone's guest this year - it'll still cost a heap tho - coming from Scotland.

I really wish they would move it though - I dont see the point in having a festival if it doesnt blow you away - year 1&2 did but then it kinda lost what was special about it - mainly because of all the restrictions etc. The rain didnt bother me at all - it was the chaos that ensued on Monday - I'm not sure if i've already said but we turned up at the carpark on Monday at about 7-8am, tried to move the car, it got stuck, then we waited for an hour for someone to pick us up in a tractor, or for someone to come and tell us what was happening, then our drivers (my mum and dad ) walked down to the front after noone turned up and were told that they had to wait in a queue - they waited in that queue for 7 hours in the mud & rain. I feel its necessary to point out that we had to drive back to Scotland (my mum ended up in a right state driving back at 4am worried she was going to fall asleep with my 13 year old brother in the back of the car (we had to pick him up from my grans) - I called her after Newcastle and she was in tears (we had 2 cars and me & my dad were already home - they'd stopped off in newcastle so my mum could sleep) and that the queue was moved which meant that they ended up near the back of the queue again.

I'm no genius but there are a lot of different ways this could have been organised more effectively - namely having more staff on site - I saw no more than 2 people.

Also the sound levels really dont do it for me - and I have young healthy ears! I've been to all 4 Glade's and this year I could barely hear anything! My suggestion would be to move it to Scotland - we dont know the meaning of quiet up here

The lineup is unbeatable IMO and thats really the only thing drawing me to Glade - just wish I could hear the lineup!
