UPDATED PLAYPEN LINE-UP

Tron *LIVE* (Liquid Records - Mexico)
http://www.myspace.com/tronmexico
Hailing from Mexico, Tron is an established part of the global psy-trance scene with one full length album released (Existence - Liquid Records) as well as tracks on compilations released through labels such as Bom Shanka, Free-Spirit, YSE, Psytropic, Sonic Dragon, AP records, Groove Control, Magma and Maia records.

Far Too Loud (Funkatech records)
http://www.myspace.com/fartooloud
Far Too Loud have made a huge impression on the breaks scene since their first release in 2005. They scooped the "Best Single" award at Breakspoll 2007 and have been nominated for "Best Single" and "Best Breakbeat Artist" in the Beatport 2008 wards. This summer sees them playing at such legendary festivals as Boom (Portugal), Glade (UK), Sunrise Celebration (UK), Zoom (Hungary), Sunshine (Spain), Konometsa (Finland), Connect Festival (Canada), Lifeline Dreamland (Germany) and of course Grassroots.

Erb n Dub (Urban Takeover/Finn People/Urbanism/Back to Basics)
http://www.myspace.com/erbndub
Young drum & bass producer "Erb n Dub" has had his productions supported by top DJs such as Micky Finn, JB and Spice, Grooverider, Crisy Criss (Radio One), Aphrodite, L Double (1Xtra), Ras Kwamae (Radio One), Ruff Stuff, Twisted Individual, Jayvon, Ash Attack, Congo Natty, Kenny Ken, Brockie, Evol and many more.

Hedflux (Sinister Recordings/Breakin' Even/Psy-Breakdown)
http://www.myspace.com/hedflux
2008 has already been a busy year for Hedflux. The release of his first single (Music Is My Weapon - on Sinister) has taken him to Rocket Festival (Spain), onto Annie Nightingale's Radio 1 breaks show and gained him a reputation as a top up-and-coming producer of deep, techy and psychedelic breakbeat. With more tunes coming soon through Sinister and Breakin' Even records the future is bright.

Organismic *LIVE* (Liquid Records)
http://www.myspace.com/organismic
Organismic's is anything but regular - with influences from dub, breaks, d&b, blues, trance..... it's always hard to know where they are going to go next (and we're told they have a whole new sound on the way). What can be relied on is that their music is without fail interesting, superbly produced, truly psychedelic and normally with a cheeky grin beaming from the centre of the beat! They have performed at many of the UK's top psychedelic parties and festivals and we can't wait to have them with us.

WOEF (Indigo Children/Newfoundland Festival)
One of the mind's responsible for the amazing psychedelic paintings that will be decorating the Playpen, Woef is also a very accomplished DJ who guarantees a stompathon with full-on psy-trance.

DJ URB
http://www.myspace.com/urb100
Carrying the distinction of breaking the world record for longest DJ mix (he mixed for 100 hours continuously!) Urb brings an interesting blend of urban music focused on drum & bass but often taking in elements of dubstep, reggae and breakcore.

other acts:
- Phono Brothers (Raindance/Dig Deep) tech-house/techno
- Han (Teethout) tech/tribal-house
http://www.myspace.com/tekhan

FUZZY WUZZY DAYS @ THE IRIE STYLIE TENT (Theatre & Spoken Word)

On the Saturday night, ‘FuzzyWuzzy Acts’ has the new and immense talents of the ‘The FreakyFest Show’ and it incorporates all things dark and wondrous, from live burlesque dancers that are all sizes, to amazing cabaret mingled with rock bands and audience participation games like: ‘ Drink or no Drink’ , this all helps to provide a show that is unlike any other and really is not expected at a festival, so join us if you fancy a unique Grassroots experience Please check out their myspace site for further details: http://www.myspace.com/freakyfest

On Sunday we are kicking off the Spoken word side of things with an absolute killer shot in the guise of ‘Attila the Stockbroker’, revered by many a punk and poetry fan this guy has been rocking it in the business for some time, to notable acclaim and this is just a little of what he has to say about himself:
‘I don’t mess about. I’ve got lots to say, and I’m out there saying it. To those whining head-in-the-sand types who moan ’politics has got nothing to do with music’ I have one response. ’Politics’ affects the lives of every single person on this planet. Music and words, when combined effectively, can do the same and can inspire people to take control of their lives for the better. That’s where I start from.
http://www.myspace.com/attilastockbroker

After this we have the delight that is ‘Rachel Pantechnicon’ she is the creator of Cheesegrater Leg-Iron Lion" and much more that involves ‘Elves on Shelves’ and motivational poems for animals. This lady is truly unique and is a definite must see for lovers of quirk and fairytale laughter.

The line up continues with ‘ Pint of Poetry and dash of Drama’ created by Mark Grist, (Peterborough Poet Laureate) Richard Harris and Summer Moeed, this is a night that has been established for the last two years as the place to be if you want to see the most upcoming poets and performers in Peterborough. It has a wonderful atmosphere that travels well and along with the more regular poets other festival goers will be able to perform open mic. Come down to Charters bar before September to get a feel on every second Wednesday of the month.

Next up is ‘Nick Boldock’ This guy is a performance poet who mixes comedy with politics and near-the-knuckle rhymes. He is very much for the grown-ups and does not pull any punches and the language is sometimes a touch on the fruity side As a founder member of Hull's now notorious Renegade Writers - he set out to banish the evil of the "poetry reading" his essence is on fun and enjoyment - bringing poetry to the masses, to people who think they don't like poetry - but go home wishing they'd heard it done like that before.

Now it’s getting heavy with the ‘Locality’ crew, this collective have been established as the place to be on the first Saturday of the month at Bar Bloc brought to you by some of Peterborough’s finest DJ's, MC's, Human Beat boxers, Break dancers and graffitists, This is some of the best underground talent around, with resident MC Mr ‘Mixy’! Beat boxer ‘Skillz’ and Dj ‘Mister Crowe’ Come down and set adrift on hip hop memory bliss!!

To get the girls back in on the act we have the new and extraordinary ‘Sophie Burrows’ She believes in Wry smilers, British summers and that deflated sense of self importance which we sometimes get. She is a singer-songwriter from Essex and she has a distinctive style which harks back to the Kinks and Kirsty Mcoll, listening to her will bring the sea shanty to your ears.

If that was not enough we have the merging of two well established acts. ‘Yanny Mac’ he was a pikey poet. He did pikey poems. It was a pikey poet kinda thing. And then he found Prozac. Now he is a Domestic Goddess and he performs poems about Domestic Goddessissicity. My new show is entitled YANNY MAC - "THE DOMESTIC GODDESS DELUSION". Yanny has hosted the spoken word tent at ‘Latitude festival’ and has dates at The Edinburgh festival and Shambala this year.
He has an irreverent and welcoming style that will definitely warm ya cockles, so please come and be part of the domesticity!

Joining Yanny Mac is ‘The Librarian Girls’ plays a mixture of soulful folk and tries to tell stories with her songs that people will hopefully relate to. It's Aussie east Coast folk with a Suffolk punch. You can see her regularly at: The Birdcage Caberet, Norwich and The Melting pot Caberet, Great Yarmouth. She has also recently played Norwich Arts Centre and as part of The Norwich and Norfolk Fringe Festival.
