6 reasons not to go,too heaven nightclub :1. Watered down spirts at the great price of £4.30p
2. Red stripe at £ 4.30p
3. the most moody security you ever scene.
4. £1 to smoke, yes thats right you gotta go to (customers
service).. what a joke that is. to pay, too smoke!
5. Lame sound system
6. the place is full of shirt lifters.

all in, all. this lead to a major let down. killed a great nights music from kevin sauderson and jeff mills.
GIVE THIS PLACE A MISS !

You mean to say there were gay people, at a world-famous gay nightclub? Seriously?? :o

Some of the other points are fair enough though.
Top one. Nice one. Get sorted.

Nice to see homophobia is still alive in Britain

I agree about some of the points, when i went to STIR it was baking hot and some of the bar staff were incredibly rude when i asked for water, almost essentially refusing to give it to me.

But point 6? Wow...just wow...who cares?

I have to agree with those point apart from the "It's full of shirtlifters" comment. Cmon, do your homework buddy it's a fucking massive gay club! What are they going to do on a "straight" night?

"Sorry mate that shirts a bit tight you aint coming in"

When I went to a Lost night where Derrick May was playing I was deeply dissapointed with security, vibe and cost of drinks. Kind of put a dampner on what I thought would be an awesome night out and I haven't been back. The club just manages to feel a bit too impersonal but some people seem to like that. I felt Fabric get the "Big club, personal vibe" just right. But then I know people that would never ever go there and hate the place. Each to there own hey!?

Next time you want to go to a good techno night in London look out for Closer. I have heard is f**king banging from a reliable source.

I was last in Heaven on the night Kid 606 played BANGFACE back at the end of 2006. We couldn't get tickets in advance, queued and missed the 'one in one out' cut off point by about 6 places, hung about, obviously weren't going to get in so Heaven it was. Personally I found the place a bit soulless as it's had a refit since the last time I was there in the mid 80's, the Sound in the main area was not all that but the back bar had a South American minimal DJ and the sound in there was ok although drinks a bit pricy.

It's a pays yer money and takes yer choice I'm afraid. This is Central London, ie. very expensive and although listed as a straight night it IS the most well known gay bar in London!

Back in the mid 80's, following the 'RARE GROOVE' DJ's (Jasper the Vinyl Junkie, etc.) and ending up in Heaven during a period of high sexual/racial intolerance was like sailing into uncharted waters (Aaaarrr! The Ol' pirate hasn't quite left me....) - The sexual orientation equivalent of the Clash 'White Man In Hammersmith Palais'

Bedrock @ Heaven was an awesome night out, used to happen monthly on a thursday, then 4 a year, then 2 a year.. now it appears to have moved to the new club owned by fabric called matter... cant wait to go :)

Went to heaven for gatecrasher too and saw paul van dyk, which it was 2002. A good night, but yeah, far too hot, but a good crowd.

Heaven needs to sort its air con out - major sweat pit. Not pleasant. Maybe thats one thing that the gay crowd like though?

p.s

totally disagree with the lame sound system comment.

John Digweed can totally destroy that main room - and it was upgraded last year too.

Sad that they got rid of the mirror ball and the balcony - but still a good club IMO

my mate used to do the lasers at Heaven, he said his strongest memory was turning up for work one saturday to be confronted by a 7 foot tall drag queen in a sequined codpiece who explained to him that (s)he was the special guest and would be needing the laser to be pointed at said codpiece to creat a laser mirrorballs effect :D

we're doing the video install for Matter too, nice venue...

One thing I've learnt from Gay clubs and bars is that they are all very expensive and play really cheesy house. I went to one in Soho and a corona and a shot of tequila came to 9.50!

But I have always managed to have a good time at them...Never been to heaven though.

Had to happen - GAY couldn't stay at the Astoria for ever as they're turning it into a Crossrail station. I will miss that venue :(

(not for GAY, but for gigs)

Yeah, it was confirmed by Livingstone earlier in the year at some point that it couldn't be saved. According to Wikipedia, work is due to start any day (Late 2008). Apparently they're still letting shit bands play... Feeder were on a few days ago when I walked past. :?
