Help me duplicate CDs!

Postby samuel » 26 Nov 2007, 12:26

I’m a struggling singer and recently I have completed my first album. I wish to publish my album and I’m looking for CD duplication provider with reasonable price and good quality. Does anyone have any idea or advice?

Welcome new person. :)

Have just moved your thread to the music section so it has a better chance of being seen by our music bods. I presume you've already googled for cd duplication services and looked at ads in the music press?

your best bet is to first plan it all out - how many you want, artwork, type of cd case, tracks, detail on the cd etc. most importantly, price. think about how much you can afford to spend, how much you wish to make back and be prepared to meet in the middle. make sure you have a solid plan, get this written up and send it to as many duplication houses as possible, get an idea of qoutes etc.

sounds like a long way around it but its good to get a good plan, youll know what your getting and how much to expect to pay.

as for places to email, well im a vinyl girl myself  but i know in the back of computer music magazine theres adverts for places that can copy cd's for you. :)

Yea go look at some adverts. My advise would be though make sure you've played it to some people who arn't your mates (so you get truely impartial opinions) and only churn your own money into it if your fully confident in it as a product. Also play it to some music tech minded people who wernt involved in the recording process, their could be glareing errors in the production of it which may not be noticeable to those invoved. Has it been mastered by a competant mastering engineer? (you can get good results for around £40/60 a track, didn't say it was gonna be cheep but no point getting any sort of mass duplication if it hasn't been properly mastered)

Is there any reason you're going independant? If you've simply heard all record lables are cunts then you've been misinformed, the majors are cunts, the indies are genraly run by music lovers for music lovers. Look around at the record lables the artists you're most similar too are on and send off some demos.

Hey I'm also a musician like you and was in a similar situation when I
had wanted to publish my first album. One of my friends showed me the
site called http://www.spam.us.not which provides CD duplication
software. They have about ten years of experience in the field and
assure the quality. So just check it and I am sure you will find it
great duplicating software.

Edit by Sperge: nice try, son. :nono:

Hmmm.....

It's amazing how some 'conversations' are so classic that they have to be repeated...

You gotta admit these spamming types are getting more sophisticated though...

tis a bit worrying r.e. spammers. a freind of mine at uni ended up shutting his message board down and starting over, rewriting lots of script due to constant hacking and shit from spammers. gone are the days when you could tell it was a spammer by the signup name

Well, the name followed by a two-digit number seems to be a hallmark of one particular spammer. What made me suspicious of this one was the sheer speed with which one 'random' just happened to find, sign up and answer a question by another 'random'. Also the wording of both posts sounded like an infomercial script, which made me even more suspicious and so I googled it. We're unlikely to see that particular spammer for a while... ;)

I really need to update to the latest version of the board software, I'm falling behind now but just can't be arsed doing much techie stuff at the moment. Will set aside a couple of days for a big catch-up session at some point in the next few weeks.

Yea I thought spam as soon as I saw the reply, plus the fact both posters had one post. Is this real people signing up twice and copy + pasteing the text in you think? Cos not much chance you'll ever be able to stop that.
