Help me get this pressed! Please!!

Postby Dave Skywalker » 14 Mar 2009, 12:16

Hi guys :)

Normally I keep my blatherings into "decks, mixes and tunes" but this is too big to keep quietly sitting around.

A few weeks ago I was asked by a mate for this birthday to do him a remix of The Antiques Roadshow, because he thought it would sound cool. So I did two (because I like to suprise people and cos I'm nice!).

He loved it. He played it to friends.
They loved it. They played it to more friends.
They loved it. They suggested I give it to Ed Real. I did.
He played it at the Hard Dance Awards 2009.
Which was reviewed and they specifically mentioned the tune.
I was amazed, to be honest.

So here we are. Basically, if anyone knows who would be interested in pressing this on their label, then please get in touch, because I'm guessing it'd sell well (legalities aside for a second!).

But to everyone else, I present to you.

Ha ha, you've got a hit there. :fear:

Why not get a few white labels pressed up? There are plenty of firms doing short-run pressings if you look in the small ads of Sound on Sound etc.

There was a small label near me that manufactured and sold techno and prog house vinyl, but they moved. I could try and track them down and see if they would take this on. It's not their usual genres at all, but it's blatantly a hit so they might take it on (if I find them).

Why not send a few CD demos around?
Top one. Nice one. Get sorted.

Yeah, loving this! You gotta play the "smash the owl" mix at the weekender.

Its also perfect for a compilation i'm doing to give to my mates who are driving from all over the place to the weekender!

Your best bet could be to send it to as many relevant DJs as possible and if they play it, it'll be noticed by a label pretty quickly.
I know a cheap vinyl plant in Hackney if you decide to press it yourself.
Good luck with it, it's a cool tune.

Defen a hit here, I love them both equally too 'cos they're both such a different feel. Really massive well done & hope that you find someone to put these out because it'd be a crime for them not to be.
Also, PLEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEE Please please drop this tune in during your set at the weekender :wackyhat:

I'd suggest trying a guy called James St. Acid (I think it's a made up name) at a club called Bangface. They like this sort of stuff there. Apparently...

Although there isn't a BANGFACE RECORDS (yet?) it would make a good first release?

Nice one Dave. Playing it at the Pool Party, I suppose?

(Or at the Go Kart grand pricks - and we all pedal with grandfather clocks strapped to us.)
They take their tunes, load them into laptops and then they smash them all to bits!
WaaahahahaahahahaHahahahaaa...
