ANyone who has cancer gets my sympathy but the way she deals with it gets a big fuck you from me - if she knew results were coming, and the doctor had told her theres a good possibility she has cancer, then why the fuck go on TV? publicity, im sure. she says she has to work to survive, well im sure she is rich enough and if she laid back on her extravagances then she could have a very happy and healthy life outside of the public media which i think is best for the retarded, rascist pig.

allow me to clarify, im not making a joke out of cancer. ive lost two family members from it, i know how awful it is. but i think buzzingtalk summed up how i feel about this pretty well.

i dont like when people use things like this to attract attention to themselves. and dont question my choice of making this thread, this forum has a tendancy to go off on irrelevant political tangents, moaning about how this country is going down the drain thanks to our government etc, if youre allowed to complain about that, then i can complain about jade goody.

I dont know fuck all about Jade apart from the sort of stuff that you cant fail to know due to her being on the news and shit, but she does seem more than a tad annoying, stupid and racist. That said, as other people have said, i wouldn't wish cancer on anyone and wouldn't be flippant about anyone catching it.

Doctors don't tell you there is a "good possibility" that you have cancer. They say "there was something possibly untoward on your smear test results, usually this amounts to a false alarm but we're bringing you back for another test just to be sure" and then they say "you have cancer" somewhat out of the blue. There's simply no time to piss around when cancers are involved.

Cervical cancer survival rate is over 95% (IIRC from yesterday's speed-read of the info).

Christina Applegate had both breasts removed recently. I'm sure that wasn't done for publicity. It's not like this is the first time celebrity health scares have happened in the public eye (Tony Wilson anybody?), and I don't think any of these people go on TV about it just to gain publicity, they do it because someone wants to pay them a lot of money to tell their story. (Katie Price does everything with maximal publicity in mind, including occasionally parading her severely disabled child, but her chosen career is Professional Celebrity, so fair play to her.)

It's the people who buy Heat, Hello and The Sun who are to blame, not the celebrities.

Also, a bugbear, "I have a cure for cancer" is like saying "I have a cure for a virus" which could be anything from a cold to HIV. I want more details. What type of cancer? Is it aggressive? What kind of treatment are we talking about here? We already have a cure for thyroid cancers and many others are easily treatable/preventable (e.g. using herceptin for certain types of breast cancer).

I don't care either way for JG, I won't miss her if she dies and if she survives I won't read her story.

Don't imply that I'm flippant about it, as I said, lost family members to cancer and I know it's no joke. I mean, fucking hell, I've lost so much family to various things the last couple of years, perhaps I'm just blunt to this kind of thing now. If anything, the person being most offensive about it is Jade herself, she makes a mockery about these things when she sells her fucking story for money.

You know what I hope happens?
I hope it gets LOTS of media attention so that a. It highlights the issue of cervical cancer in young women so teenage girls do actually get this jab done to protect against it & then b). Jade Goody gets a shit load of t.v/mag deals & makes a HUGE amount of £££ which she can then donate all of to cancer research & charity.
So yes, whilst she is a prize tit who doesn't deserve to be a celeb unfortuantly she is so if some good can come out of the situation then that's only a good thing.

haha I really don't have a lot of faith in people at all!... but I'd like to think that when it's something like cancer & it makes them face their own morality then it will incite a nice shift in consciousness in said person which will then change their attitude to life & others.
So I don't hold my breath that Miss Goody will do what I hope but you never know. It will be nice of her if she does...so we'll see.
