That's worth a thread of its own, Smiffy. Thanks.

Britain's premier electronica festival "bigger, better, more diverse and exciting than ever"

MORE than 10,000 of revellers partied at the Wasing Estate near Brimpton at the weekend as the 2008 Glade Festival got underway.
The three-day arts and music extravaganza - Britain’s premier electronica event - passed off peacefully.
Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Andrea Bennett said 90 people were dealt with for drug-related offences, two people were arrested for robbery and several others were arrested for a variety of minor offences.
West Berkshire Council’s Principal Environmental Health Officer Anna Shiner said 13 householders complained about noise levels.
Local police area commander Superintendent Chris Shead said, “It was a smooth-running operation for us and a success for the organisers and all parties involved, with a happy relaxed atmosphere throughout the weekend.
“It is a professionally run, well-planned festival and the tough messages sent to those attending with the intention of dealing drugs, underpins the organiser’s wish to create a safe and successful event.”
Luke Piper, Director of organisers, said, “The line-up was bigger, better, more diverse and exciting than ever.
“We had amazing new site art, amusing circus performances and stunning stage designs, décor, lights and lasers. Last year’s appalling weather and the current economic squeeze meant our ticket sales were slightly down, but we did not compromise our programme and many festival goers report ‘2008 - the best ever’.”
However critics included some residents in nearby Aldermaston.
Simone Davis said: “The noise was absolutely intolerable, day and night from Thursday to Sunday. It has been utterly unbearable.”
"Yeah, check this next track aht, you got Asterix 'n Space. Watch yer bass bins, I'm tellin' ya"

 it seems people just moan for the sake of it now as there wasn't any music on thursday and when I walked to the camper field to see friends I could hardly hear anything not enough that would disturb my sleep anyway!

this report can only be good news...

I think its great actually, I think the next logical step would be to get the still moany residents and send them on holiday or cash insentives in return for no complaints or more sound.

I think it is really harsh that only 13 people can stop the whole music and bring it down to such a level

It probably is. The environmental health woman quoted in the report talks of "13 householders". Some of those could be within the same household, of course, but it probably is 13 people

If it's only 13 people who have such a big issue with it, get your chequebooks out for next year Glade organisers...

I just don't get why they moan at all - it's only one weekend ffs!! I don't think there will ever be a time when nobody complains at all, there are just too many british people predisposed to whingeing at anything and everything they can. There's a woman in my office moaning at the moment as somebody has opened the blinds to let a bit of the lovely sunshine outside in through the window! I mean, come on love, surely we've got to take advantage of it while we can!

Paying people off is a good idea i reckon but as someone has already mooted it may lead to more complaints next year as all the locals realise you can get a free holiday if you say you were being disrupted all weekend by the unbearable sound of people having fun

She either needs to get the voices in her head sorted out or she could make a mint renting her house out to the "Turn it up" brigade!

Im not sure what the hell she is on about to be honest could you really hear it even in the car park that loud she obviously has no life and nothing better to do than complain about something and this is what she has chosen Im sure it was the same last year :fear: (I didn't say that)

But I think the prevailing winds were blowing the sound away from the car park's direction, so that may not be significant. It will be interesting to see the full feedback on this.

I don't get that either, and it was only Friday/Saturday night where it ran late, it gets cut at 2000 on Sunday.

Unless Wasing Estate hosts many events through the year?

Could be, as in the car parks I could've been in a nature reserve, didn't hear anything!
