Luke Vibert

appreciation thread.

he has bashed out so many great records over the years and on so many ace labels (warp, rephlex, planet mu, ninja tune, mo' wax to name a few) and with so many different aliases Plug, Wagon Christ, Amen Andrews, Kerrier District, Luke Vibert, Ace Of Clubs, Spac Hand Luke. As well as some great collaborations with artists like BJ Cole, Jeremy Simmonds and Jean Jacques Perrey. Everytime i have seen him dj its always the highlight of the night (recent was at the night with venetian snares, dmx krew, mike paradinas, dj rephlex records, tim exile and bogdan raczynski and still Vibert was the best all night) But sometimes i cant shake the feeling that he does not get all the respect due. Everyone always talks about Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Autechre, Boards Of Canada and Plaid but Luke Vibert is one of the greatest producers in the past few years! and up there with AFX and Autechre anyday. anyway i just wanted to start this thread to show my apprecation for his work and all the great records he has produced over the past thirteen years.

i agree, mr vibert needs more attention. he is the wizard, i would rather see vibert than plaid, boards of canada......... all the interviews i've read sound like he's a real nice bloke too, just makes music because he loves it, you can tell too some of his stuff is very obscure but pulls you in whatever your tastes are,
big respect for the man, it would take a whole lot for someone to 'out-do' him, if it can ever be done.....
lovers acid, on loop, all day. forever. thats the way it should be inside everyones head, non stop groove baby. :D

'Chicago, Detroit, Redruth' is a hell of an album, especially the first four tracks.
I've got feelings of anxiety, me.

I've seen him loads and he always plays a solid set. Even when he played with AFX in Manchester last year he played a far better set... SUCH a nice guy as well, the nicest guy i've booked as a promoter (along with Henry Shitmat)
