Matter 'closing for summer'

Postby lahmjpowder » 16 May 2010, 21:04

(Editor's note: we're now running this as a news story at http://www.ravetalk.co.uk/?p=646 )

I don't know how long till this goes public but Matter as of this weekend have gone bankrupt and will soon be closing their doors.

It cost an arm and a leg getting in, the security were very heavy handed, and the drinks prices were through the roof. Although it did have the best sound system your likely to hear in a club.

No real loss in my eyes though.

My university was in a partnership with them for our final major projects to be presented there. We was all set to spend the next 2 days rigging then filming final recordings there on the Wednesday. We was told on Saturday that they've had to pull out due to going bankrupt....They chose the right bloody time for it

To be fair, I do believe that Matter was in trouble before Cameron and Clegg got in...

Also the Glade decision was made before Cameron was made PM, I think (not 100% sure of the exact time of the decision though ;)).

Having said that, the Tory grassroots are known to be against the 24 hour licensing laws, let alone having shit attitudes towards festivals and clubbing. Rough seas ahead... :fear:
Top one. Nice one. Get sorted.

shame.. we designed the video rig for matter and got the residency as the VJ crew, they were one of the very few clubs that would give you a decent budget and say 'go off and make something cool'.
