Name some good piano music

Postby Dave Skywalker » 23 Apr 2008, 18:31

Similar to the classical music thread, biggup your favourite piano tunes here. I'm not talking rave tunes that have pianos, but just-piano music.

I'll kick off with:
Enya - Watermark
Lol Hammond - Cloud Watch
Rachmaninov - Rhapsody on a theme of Paginini
Michael Andrews - The Artifact & Living
By the time you've read this message it's too late to stop reading it.

Ludovico Enuiardi (probably sic) - La Onde

You'll have heard it before.

Can I name some good cello music as well???

Bachs solo cello suites are pretty sweet.

I have only ever been wrong once and that was this one time when I thought I was wrong, and then it turned out that I wasn't.

Back when I was having guitar lessons, my tutor introduced me to this when I wanted to learn something a bit different for my GCSE music exam (obviously I only did the right hand part):

Sounds hella massive on a distorted guitar, unsurprisingly - shredders luuurve Bach.

I can't play it anymore.

{Edit: durrr, I forgot to say what it is - Invention no.13 by J.S. Bach. A minor - good metal key, that)

Wasn't that the chord that Metallica were supposedly suing a band about? :D

It turned out to be a very funny publicity hoax but the fact that ANYONE took it seriously said more about Metallica than anything about the band in question.

It might have been a chord progression actually but it was still a funny one.

And I firmly believe Metallica are still 60% to blame for the onset of mass filesharing.

Muse have loads of good piano because they steal most of their riffs from classical music!

fur elize, relatively simple and well known peice but timeless, and tres beau.

theres loads but you want some kick ass fire fingers then go searching for live Jules Holland i'm sure you all know how godlike he is but if you've never seen a close up on his hands i would recommend it, jeez he's good. saw him live and he blew me away with those jazzed up spangled melodies.....

i agree too, shame muse are such rip offs, if they actually wrote the majority of those technical bits i'd give them credit, but they only play it well, not that i could but still, just shows that the majority of the public are very very dumb if they can't recognise the tunes. bellamy changes the odd note i suppose we should give him that much... :D
