Overkill at Glade 2009

Glade Festival is Britain's biggest and best non-corporate electronic dance music festival, with a proper havin' it vibe. It's 16-19 July 2009, get those dates in your diary.

+1

I mean why change a winning formula ?

I think that over 90% of the people that went to glade this year enjoyed the festival, and would consider going again.

I thiknk it's good theyve got the balls to switch it about a bit. A more intimate vibe with more randomness sounds good to me. I'm sure they'll have a plan to keep the diversity and caliber of artists as this is one of the main selling points of the festi.

Yeah, I would happily go again if Overkill and Bangface are there, otherwise it will be time to look for somewhere else to fulfill my musical requirements...

yeah if theres no breakcore/jungle/general carnage then i may have to pass...trance and breaks aint funny enough to keep me amused for a whole weekend, though the techno stage would no doubt help for an evening stompage

I'd agree with this. But maybe their sick of us breakcore/jungle types and want a happy clappy wishywashy festival full of bland people listerning to bland music.

(Oh I put this in a dilberately inflamatory way, I don't think all trance/breaks and all those who listen to it are bland, just most of it.)

have to agree with that.
i love the festival as a whole & love wandering between all the stages but it would be a big void in the fest for me if that happened

plan the changes carefully mates, we love the festival you give us, hell i travelled from the middle of the mediterranean three times for it, and those 9 days are amongst the top 20 days of my life :D so do things wisely.

Yes, full variety for me again this year please.

Its the reason i have been coming to glade for the past 4 years - the fact that i could quite happily live in any of the arenas (or hobble between them all as i tend to do)

The variety IS whats sets it apart from other festivals in the country. Ive grown to trust glade tho, after them providing me with some of the best moments of my life till this point.

Im hoping for a squarepusher headline set again next year, listening to his new album at the mo, on the second track, very jazzy affair so far, he was great live in 2007.

the only two things that need changing:

1) The sound - solution - new venue/new rigs/smaller tents etc
2) The smell in the breaks tent on sunday - solution - a million Air Wick plugins

solved by cutting the grass beforehand and removing the clippings from the tent.
Therefore, no composting effect :)

Removing the cuttings won't stop the smell, it'll make it worse.

They leave them there to hide the smell of the clientèle by Sunday!

They should have piles of fresh manure at each entrance, that'd work better.

Nah, old skool is the best school. They should hand out dust masks smeered with vix at the entraces to all tents.

They have clearly stated that Overkill is staying, so why all the fuss? They are indeed apparently changing from the huge tents, but exactly what this means is unclear. However, Overkill will be there!

Check the dates, it's an old thread. The last post in it (until you bumped it up :P ) was some time before they clearly stated that Overkill was staying...

Personally, I never believed they would get rid of Overkill, but some people were worried because of all the talk of reinventing the festival and they kept on worrying until a definitive statement was released on it.
