Overkill at Glade 2009

Glade Festival is Britain's biggest and best non-corporate electronic dance music festival, with a proper havin' it vibe. It's 16-19 July 2009, get those dates in your diary.

The two aren't mutually exclusive, so it doesn't mean anything either way if Overkill have a night at Bloc.

There is going to be a move away from big tents at Glade 2009. Exactly what that will mean for Overkill or BF, who knows? The Glade organisers are keeping it all under their hats for now.

lol at the pictures,

Im intruiged as to what Glade are going to do with smaller tents, i mean if the capacity is similar wouldnt that mean that we would have to have even more tents if they are going to be smaller? Or is it just more outdoor stages?

hmmmmmm

i trust them tho, they have provided me with enough amazing moments for me to not doubt them.

When are we going to find out more?

Smaller tents means a tighter, more sound absorbing crowd so more volume?
Since July 20 1969, only eleven men have followed in Neil Armstrongs footsteps on the moon. Eleven. in nearly forty years. Pathetic. I mean, it's not rocket science is it?

Who said there were going to be any tents at all? :P

But seriously, Ans is in charge of all communications this year and he's running a very tight ship. They'll give out the info when they're ready and not until. That's just the way it is, people.

Those little kiddy tents look ideal for a bit of Bang Face crowdsurfing if given a bit of firm flooring :excited:

(assuming BF makes an appearance this year, of course)

They're not bothering with tents, they're changing the location to Cornwall, there is some talk of just one huge plastic dome being used instead??? Sounds like fun but I can't see where that might be.

Well, bear in mind that it wasn't even announced that it would happen for 2008 until 11 June.

It's never a foregone conclusion that BF will happen at Glade. That's because Saint Acid cares very much about the reputation of Bang Face - and a lot of things have to be right before he'll definitely say Yes. And from Glade's point of view, they're very much on a "starting again with a blank canvas" trip for 2009, so who knows? I'm not saying it's going to happen or not happen, just saying that it's not to be taken for granted.

i hope this new beginning of the glade wont be the beginning of the end.. i dont know why theyre doing this as this year, the general feeling was taht of bliss, by everyone.. so its a pretty great formula they've got going on

I suspect it's partly down to the sound issues - they can't guarantee the loud sound that some want because it's so dependent on atmospheric conditions. The limits are fine if there are no adverse weather conditions, but we all know what happens if anything causes the sound to leak in the direction of irate locals...

Also lots of other events have sprung up with a very similar formula to Glade, I think they want to reinvent things somewhat.
