Pendulum at Glade - I've gotta say something about this....

Glade Festival is Britain's biggest and best non-corporate electronic dance music festival, with a proper havin' it vibe. CANCELLED!

I've been a fan of dance music since the early/mid 90's and have a music collection that covers various types of dance music...i had decks for a few years and smashed out the drum and bass for much of that time...back in the day i was a huge d&b fan, i used to go to all kinds of raves and clubs around the south of the UK specifically to get my d&b fix....over the years my tastes have changed, but i have never liked Pendulum, well this is obviously just my opinion..... but the first time i ever heard of them was on Radio 1, with Edith Bowman chatting on and on about how good they were and what an excellent tune they had produced....then she played it. tbh, i can't even remember what tune it was called, but i instantly thought it was shit. It sounded to me like some kind of ropey fairground music....far too cheesy for my taste, and they have only got more cheesy as time has gone on....i'm not a fan of vocals or guitars in dance music as it is, but to actually make a recording of a 'd&b' tune with both things in is simply the final nail in the coffin for me....

..maybe now that i'm 31 I don't get it any more, but I for one will be avoiding them at Glade, because they will do nothing except ruin the time i could be somewhere else, doing something more worthwhile.......i dunno, like taking a shit.

sorry for the rant....i have yet to truely express my opinion on Pendulum, and feel better that i have. :)

I know i will come under great scrutiny for this, but i have seen Pendulum live and theyre not a bad live set. I agree they are ridiculusly over played and middle of the road, but in my humble view they have a couple of decent tracks.

But what do i know, its my first Glade this year and i want to hear some underground tunes as well!

Cheers and see ya all soon!!! :wackyhat: :wackyhat:

I see where you're coming from, thenewdiabolic - I did like some pendulum tunes, I just dislike the direction they've taken and the fact they're whored everywhere now. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't had a good old dance to some pendulum before.

shit, does that make me UNCOOL? *kills self*

^^ Pendulum have made some wicked tunes. I think that's what makes their current direction even more infuriating!

Nah to be honest i started this thread but i totally agree, a few years ago they had quite a few respectable tunes (Vault, Spiral, toxic shock etc) .. but like u say their current direction is completely infuriating and thats the reason i started this rant.

Not read all this thread and i hear Pendulum are milking it. Still i met these guys about 3 years ago at a small night in Stoke called Snatch. I think they are from Melbourne and were great lads. If they are chasing the money, up to them.
