Places to buy Vinyl

OK, so I am starting a directory of all the best places to buy vinyl, both shops and internet. I can help with London and such, and can help with lots of genres, but need specific help with shops outside of london and breaks, techno and electro shops as I dont mix this sort of stuff. What I will do is sticky this thread, and if anyone has any suggestions or additions that should be made to the thread then post below. The list will start off small and kinda disorganised but as i sort it out and people feed information in hopefully it will become a very comprehensive guide to buying vinyl

Will be making seperate posts eventually divided by area for shops and a seperate internet section, possibly with smaller sub sections if a shop dedicates iteself to one genre. hope this makes sense?

So, get your links in - I only want shops that you yourself have had transactions with, so then we know that the shop is reliable.

I use all the following on a regular(ish) basis. The ones I have used the most over the last four or so years are probably discogs, gemm and ebay, but you can't beat the reliability of the individual stockists. dswat and praxis are my personal favourites.

http://www.urban-decay.co.uk/ -- good for breakcore but a little pricey
http://praxis.c8.com/catalog/ -- good for anything dark, mainly breakcore, have really rare stuff on sale, and postage is excellent value.
http://www.toolboxrecords.com/ good for lots of different dance, strange genres though and very european, sometimes difficult to understand the descriptions of some genres / records. Good ragga jungle section.
http://www.dogsonacid.com/ -- good for dnb
http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/ -- good for dnb

Obvious ones:

http://www.juno.co.uk/ -- good for any dance
http://www.gemm.com/ -- good for ANYTHING, especially the most difficult to find releases, very rare stuff but sometimes pricey
http://www.musicstack.com/ -- like gemm but not quite as wide range
http://www.discogs.com/ -- started as information for every release on every dance label, but has now expanded to most areas of music! Also there is a chance that any release you can think of will be on sale here, and you can also ask people who own the item if they want to sell it / trade etc, really good community.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/ -- obvious, can be very expensive, but every now and again you can get a bargain

The Aquasky website is good for breaks etc, their stuff and others on their Passenger and 777 labels can be bought direct at good prices, quick delivery and cheap postage.

I also highly recommend Distortion Records in Amsterdam, (if EU ones are aiiigght?) I went there when I was in Dam a few years back and its brilliant.. I've shopped there online a few times since... Really good vinyl for cheap:

aaah what do they sell there? any hardtek? will be heading to dam next month for my 21st, was hopign to find some EU record stores...

I don't know about other branches but HMV on London's Oxford Street and in Leeds city centre have pretty reasonable vinyl sections, plus Technics decks to hear them on.

For secondhand vinyl, Reckless Records in Berwick St, Soho, is pretty well organised but don't expect any amazing bargains.

In Manchester, Vinyl Exchange is always worth a look in.

There was a good DJ vinyl specialist shop just a mile away from me until about six months ago, I believe they went bust.

Keep an eye on Chemical records' sales too, because mostly dnbheads shop there they sometimes have really good electronica / breakcore for well cheap! I got bizzy B science volume 4+5 (2 x 10"ers) for two pound! And michael j. rocks 12" for 1.75 or something mental...

I bought some of my first records at Chemical, they have a record store in my hometown Cheltenham, one of the best things about that damn town!

http://www.htfr.com - hard to find records, often a good place to look if everywhere else is sold out, and they have an excellent range of equipment. also they do self written blurbs for most of their products, which dswat boomkat and urban decay do. its not a major thing but i quite like the personal touch.

actually i would like to second http://www.dswat.com, its run single handledly by a guy who goes by the name of parasite, a bristol based dj who also runs deathsucker records (home to aaron spectre and bong ra among others). the guy is a legend and deserves your dollars, i feel happier giving dswat my custom than some of the bigger shops. and it helps that it has a fantastic range of stuff, some really interesting gems among the catalogue.

as for real life record shops, i dont really know many. i went to nicky blackmarkets record shop in soho last week, its called bm soho and it has a decent range of dnb, house, grime/dubstep, funk and dub. had myself a great couple of hours in there and it was nice chatting to the folks who work there as they had an encylopedic knowledge of the music.

can anyone recommend any record shops in kent? i know theres a one or two kentians on this forum, i live in canterbury where theres only one proper record shop, and it sells rock..

i thought blackmarkets shop was shite when i last went there. there was awhole floor full of funky louse and trance, then a tiny downstairs with no proper oldskool or jungle only new jump up and a few jungle bits was alrite, but i was expecting more for mr blackmarket

well blackmarket is a shit dj who only plays jump up, so you get what it says on the tin, really. i got a noisia ep, a great equinox junglely record and a new one from counterstrike, and none of those are jump up. its by no means the best record shop ever, but i wouldnt know either way having been to so few - after buying most of my collection online it was a pleasant change to chat to human being who knew what he was talking about.

but there are most likely shitloads better recordshops out there.
