Is Bangface having two rooms a good thing ?

Postby Jemo on 09 Jan 2007, 12:49

..... As we can see BF is opening up two rooms again for this event , is it a good thing ? or shuld they stick to only one and only open the other one in certain circumstances ie. B day Party, chrissie etc...etc... ? is it money driven ? or do you think the promoters are doing it to enhance the BF experience .... ?

Personally, I thought it was better the first time I went with the one room, more intimate, less walking around, everyone packed into one insane room .... :wackyhat:

The third birthday was absolutely brilliant when everyone was playing twice, but last month it wasn't so good because the main room was absolutely rammed and people were only playing once. I missed most of Ceephax because it was too packed to dance and so I slinked off to the other room where there was actually enough room to swing a cat. The putting more tickets on sale thing doesn't really work when everyone ignores the second room and just packs into the main one. Ah well.

Oh, and it'd be handy if there were set times on the walls when both rooms are open because I keep missing everyone. God help you all if I miss Altern8 again...

having only been to bangface once, i cant really comment...
but i can say this, when i went. if the bottom room had not been open, i wouldnt have raved atall :o
i like my space to throw shapes when im raving, and the top room was so painfully packed that dancing really wasnt an option.

surley if the promoters are putting on a second room its gonna cost them more no? and if bangface is popular then its unlikley that not having a second room is gonna make it less popular (and thus less rammed?)

I think it is a great thing for bangface ot have both rooms open again. fair enough, it may be slightly divided in terms of numbers in each room, but if there is demand tey must supply! im sure if this becomes a regular thing, there will be more organisation r.e. what go's on in the second room rgarding extra dj's, or a second set, and of course set times. once the propmoters get used to running the second room, i think it will be a bit more ocnfortable in terms of space and dancing. im sure the first room will always be more packed, it makes sense to ram that room outr, so those who like the rammed mash pit can go there and those who prefer to "throw shapes" can go into the other room.

if that makes snese?

Having two rooms was wicked, each having it's on distinct vibe. I spent an equal amount of time in both rooms last night and my girlfriend said it was great to have somewhere where you could get away from the main room if you wanted (it was her first bangface last night!).

Definately a great idea :)

each to there own ..... maybe it was cos I was unable to get out from the seating in front of the bar that I didnt find time to appreciate the second room enough cos I was to spasticated on the old cereal ...

matbe next time when I go I'll grow to Love the choice that we have with the two rooms :) if they open them both in March that is ...... :wackyhat:

There's arguments for both I think. Last night was my first with 2 rooms and I thought it was good, the main room wasnt too packed.. I think Bangface has lost its vibe more and more over the last 12 months but I think it's me having seen it all / getting older to be honest. Its still so good for a good rave / mashup, you're guarenteed not to be disappointed.

i think two rooms at BF XL worked out really well. it was nice to be able to go in there are swing your arms around a bit every now and then without taking anyone out, not that i have any probs with the cosy main room. shortly after Vex'd finished i realised i was so hammered i was already forgetting just how word the set was so i was able to go watch their second set in the other room and piece it back together! and it worked out pretty damn nicely! im all up for the two rooms, thought it may have meant the main room would be crammed all night but that wasnt the case. really like the idea of some of the acts playing twice too.... im going travelling for most the year from this weekend and im gonna miss Bangface bigtime! keep it rockin St.Acid, it may be the only thing that'll bring me home to see my friends and family! :wackyhat:

To be honest I couldn't have imagined all those people in just 1 room - it would've been hellish for me as I cannot stand really overcrowded places.

I think having the two rooms open gives people more space to spread out and if the music in the first room isn't to your taste then you can go to the other room for a bit and vice versa.

Also the nice comfy couches in the second room give extra seating for anyone who doesn't want to be jumping about or getting squashed in the mosh pit :P

The only reason they have opened the second room is cause of the extra demand, if there was only one room there would probably be a couple of hundred less people. They used to have the second room open just as a chill out area and the cloak room was where the second dancefloor is now...

at a stab im guessing with the both those floors open at werkz, at least 400 maybe 500, even more? When it first came to the werkz I reckon it was 350-400. It used to be 150 about 18months ago! It's grown so much..

I'd love to go to bangface at some point, especially as Plaid are playing tonight. But I am already down for workking at Synergy, so it will have to be another time, it's monthly isn;t it?

Bangface is amazing but that top room gets so packed it's untrue. Another room is a good thing. However the lineups are usually so goddamn amazing that I don't want to leave the 1st room at all :D
