Bloom 2008

Postby fletcher on 04 Mar 2008, 23:08

Purchased my bargain £50.00 advance ticket on the back of comments from friends who had a most splendid time last year :D Looks like a big crew of us lot going this year too, anyone else been previously or going this year? What should i expect? Last years lineup looked fun, hoping they start announcing some for this year soon :cop:

Another festival in my summer calendar cant be a bad thing!

Official blurb sent out on todays mail-out:

FESTIVAL SITE & DATES CONFIRMED

BLOOM FESTIVAL 2008 Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August Seven Springs, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL53 9QN

Bloom Festival is on the move. Whilst our event at Dyrham Park last year was a great success, the site we used was a bit on the snug side and we needed a nice space with more room for camping and all the extra fun bits we have lined up this year. The main priorities for our search were:

* To find a space close to our 2007 location
* To ensure easy access by car and public transport
* To find a location with charm and personality

Our search took us to a number of locations dotted around the South West and we eventually stumbled upon “Seven Springs”, which set in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside just outside of Cheltenham and is thought to be the exact location where the River Thames originates.

The new site is ideally located - just 2 miles from Cheltenham and 5 mins drive from junction 11a on the M5. The land we are using is situated on a ridge which overlooks the City and has panoramic views of the Malvern Hills off in the distance. It really is quite a beautiful spot and we hope to make Seven Springs our home for the foreseeable future.

Which is great because it means the festival is now less that 25 miles from my flat

Also, lineup starts to be announced from 1st April and ticket prices will go up to £85.00 as they are pretty much out of the £50.00 advanced tickets.

Awooga :D

Never seen roni live but he's got so many classics you're gaurenteed a rockin evening. I've always loved his groovein style as well.

And high contrast never dissapoint. Though theres something about liquid dnb which erks me a bit... it feels like it could deliver even more then it does at times if that makes any sence at all.

If Roni just does a DJ set then that will be pretty cool, but If he gets the band together and we get treated to a live drum kit and a big ass double bass then I might just explode. I saw High Contrast last year at big chill and he probably played the set of the event, at least a third of the festival went to see him and I've never seen the dance tent so full.

Have you been to Bloom before mate? this will be my first one and I'm not to sure what to expect, sounds pretty awesome though.

It says reprezent live, so im guessing its the full on proper band :D :?

I saw his "breakbeat era" band and that was awesome - 2 guys drumming out of phase to get the double skippy beat, 2 guys with phat bass guitars, Roni DJing over the top of it all as well as the MC's and women singers - awesome stuff 8)

I havn't been to bloom but a couple of my mates bang on about it just as much as I bang on about glade. Apprently the atmospheres similar if a little less full on. Which isn't a bad thing... too many festivals as full on as glade would make you lose your mind very quickly.

Bloom is a really cool little festival - very easy to get around, wicked vibe, chilled security, varied music ranging from some really cool live stuff such as Crazy P, Ame and Soul2Soul to Beardyman to breaks/techno dj's, and in august so very good chance of decent sunshine (twas lovely and hot all weekend last year!)

Just don't work there - my girlfriend and I are still waiting for our deposits to be returned from last year's event, over 8 months on!!
Glade today gone tomorrow

Just stumbled across your forum whilst trawling the internet (as you do). And glad to see that there's a positive vibe about Bloom on here. I've been present the last couple of years and can honestly say that it's my favorite UK festival. I might be a touch bias but it has all the components that are great about events such as Big Chill, Glade and Bestival but in a small and perfectly formed package! It's funky and fun during the day, and then gradually winds up as the sun goes down, and has the perfect mix of fun loving people to make it a proper party.

Personally I canee wait!!

Bring on Bloom!!
