HAHAHA! I think EVERYONE got lost at some point over the weekend trying to locate their way back to their chalets
Next year I'm taking a compass with me so I can at least know the general direction I need to go in!
I'll hold up my hands & admit that I got lost pretty much every time I tried to find my way back on fri & sat..it was only come sunday & monday that I'd worked it out & no longer got (as) lost :P

agreed. i think i clocked on to where our own chalet was pretty fast, but it was when i was trying to find anything else that was the problem. i remember bumping into my mates and other people generally who had been looking for their chalet for literally hours. i remember being hopelessly lost and stumbling across a section of chalet's that didn't even have numbers on. it was then that i knew i was TRULY lost so i think the idea of a compass is a genius.

I vote we all get issued with a novelty 'Bang Face Compass' next year when we pick up the chalet keys! :P
Yeah I came accross so many poor lost souls as well who had been lost for ages! I think the longest I got lost for was about 30 mins or so...felt like an eternity though -_-
This place with the no Chalet numbers was where the staff lived I think...I ended up stumbling into that block as well & being royally confussed :?

Well, the English for "raveing" is raving. :P

And, according to the highly reliable (cough) Babelfish translator, the German for raving is... "raving". So yes, Pontins should have 'Raving Macht Frei' over the camp gates, and maybe on the watchtowers too.

And if you get caught by security with ravehorns or something naughtier at night, the security can say "For you, Tommy, ze rave iss over!"

Babelfish just spunks back whatever you throw at it if it doesn't know what the translated word should be.

To sound correct in German it would have to be spelled Räwing.

You could almost imagine scenes from 'The Great Escape'...

Gymnasts near the perimeter fence, vaulting horses as tunnels were dug, geezers milling about whistling and dropping soil down trouser legs (eh?)

Yes.

They would do anything to get in.

But only we know of the hardships endured by the brave souls interred in the notorious Pontiz..

I'm well aware of the limitations of Babelfish, hence the sarcasm in my words "according to the highly reliable (cough) Babelfish translator".

However, I'm also aware that the umlauted form of A is pronounced "ee" as in tree. So it would not sound correct at all if it was spelled "Räwing". I'm not quite sure how a website about the Alexander Rave Foundation is supposed to back up your non-point either. How do you manage to be so consistently wrong while trying to sound authoritative, Tom?

I went missing on Sunday night. The last thing i remember is leaving our friends chalet and then having to navigate my way round that maze of chalets at god knows what time. Then next thing I knew i woke up on the floor of my chalet with loads of missed calls on my phone and my friend saying that she nearly sent out a search party for me because I'd not been seen for hours.

And your right. It does look like a concentration camp from above.

Not in German it isn't. Not sure which language you're referring to but the equivalent English spelling for the German word without an Umlaut would be spelled and pronounced "ae"

I refer you to cheese as a Käse example :wackyhat:

It doesn't, it's just a link I found. I thought it was quite funny

I have an umlaut in my surname. Either way, no one ever pronounces it or spells it correctly, even when it is spelt out to them very very slowly :(
