Searches / Camping area

Glade Festival is Britain's biggest and best non-corporate electronic dance music festival, with a proper havin' it vibe. Now based at a stately home in Norfolk.

Officially, you'll definitely be fingertip searched entering the festival, sniffer dogs, the lot. Once you're past that, you're safe enough as there are no other cordons. But security do have the right to search & confiscate and possibly eject if they see you doing things you shouldn't.

There's a limit on booze and it's on Thursday only. No booze allowed in after a set time on Thursday night. You can go out to your car for a pissup anytime you want though.

When i got there last year (about 5pm on the Thursday) they were filtering everyone past the sniffer dogs single-file then it was on to a row of bouncers standing at tables where everyone, yes everyone, had to queue to have their bags thoroughly searched. I wouldn't worry too much though, didn't see a single person get done by the doggies and I must have watched well over 100 people pass before myself. Just be as sensible as can be!

For the record, I saw someone get done by the spaniel. Went for his left shorts cargo pocket and security took the guy off for a personal search. After seeing what Fotza saw, I am convinced he was trying to sneak in a sausage.

Also for the record, the other dog they had last year (fat brown dopey looking thing) is a regular on the Manchester clubbing scene, particularly at Warehouse Project, which is a venue well reputed for lots of people getting chucked out by heavy-handed security for doing drugs inside the venue not quite secretively enough not to be spotted. Make your own conclusion from those two key facts, but PaulX has to consider libel, so I'm not gonna say it.

How smooth is getting into the Glade site?

Postby MattD » 12 Jun 2012, 16:25

Just going through the final stages of getting everything sorted and packed. Now I'm starting to plan travel times etc.

How smooth is the process of actually getting on site? Will security be searching each and every bag entering the site? My one is pretty tightly packed and it'd be so VERY annoying to have to take everything out! :fear:

In previous years, how long has it taken to queue to get in etc?

It's worth mentioning that if you do get sniffed out by a doggie if it's attached to a policeman you will have a bad experience, but if it's private security you do have the right to refuse the search, go back to your car, drop stuff off and queue up again clean and serene...
lets go get sushi, and not pay!

Or, better, the socialist response is to tool up with loads of illegals, and repeat the process with ever decreasing amounts, until the dog can't smell you (or anyone else) any more, and then go back and remove it all from your pockets for when they actually search you. And then use a catapult to fire it into the festival

I didn't see anything about that anywhere; is there no alcohol allowed for those of us having to arrive on friday? Surely alcohol should be on first entry when you get your wrist band?

Oh that could be right but previously it's only been allowed until the point when the bars can open and start selling booze.

It should be stated on the leaflet you got with your tickets anyway.
