BBC says he served 10 months (dunno if they're including time on remand in that).

But yeah, the drug laws there are mind-boggling. There have been people convicted because they had a couple of poppy seeds from a cheese and tomato bun in their clothing FFS. People with prescription drugs such as co-codamol have also been jailed.

Oh, and if they find any illicit substances in any of your blood or urine samples, they'll do you for possession.

Actually, I was phoned by a recruitment agency today asking if I fancied this job in Dubai, £45k tax free etc. Ummmm, no. I know from people who have been there that Dubai is actually one of the more liberal and cosmopolitan Islamic countries - but I'm not going to set foot in the place until they get rid of these ridiculous drug laws. People have been jailed because their clothes had one poppy seed on them from a cheese roll eaten at Heathrow FFS.
