we went up to the welfare tent late sunday night but as there was nothing really wrong with us; just had tea and left. Some guy was being so didnt really wanna see that either...

Seemed a nice relaxing place tho and the people in there were nice

not enough sound on the friday at overkill, saturday night was great though - although i know the reasons for this and its fine but get it sorted for next year
not enough JUNGLE!
toilets - although much cleaner i hope the glade can move towards naturAL toilets at some point

eveything else basically.
the function one sounded great and glad to see it all on rosters in order to protect it from streams of mud/water
police/secuirty were lovely from my experience - had anice conversation with a coppper who came over just to check if we were having a good one. heard a few horror storys and my mate had a bad one but all in all much better than the lack of prescene last year and the full on security of 2006.
more water points at better more convenient spots - wicked!
id just like to say thanks to everyone in the welfare tent for being awesome, they do a great job - it werent me in there but a mate woke up there sunday morning and couldnt praise them enough for helping him
reduced capacity worked well = not sure if it was full but there was enough space to move about and sit compared to it being crammed in 2 previous years

i hope the organisers had a good one, and look forward to it next year. thanks to all the lovely people i met and who sorted me out with various things, especialy they guy who sorted me a wristband to take pics of dreadzone and to dreadzone themselves for making me laff after their set backstage sunshine supervibes to each and everyone of ya i met, cuaght on camera and hugged xxx

Pros:
Fewer chavs, less agro, less mess, fewer casualties, more space, more fun than any other festival I've been to
Noisia, Ben & Lex, System 7, Jeff Mills, Plump DJs

Cons:
As has been said, the sound levels in Vapour tent on Friday (Sat was fine though)
Bleak minimal techno being played at InSpiral on Saturday afternoon - where was the chilled stuff?

My one suggestion: next year how about an outdoor stage where you can chill with a beer and watch a band in the afternoon? That would make Glade the perfect festival!

I liked...
the lower numbers, the site felt much less cramped, more like the old days.

I hated...
- the overly quiet volumes in the tents at night.
- the stupidly loud volumes in the tents during the daytime. Listening to an ambient act like Ulrich Schnauss and getting immense distorted sound levels was just stupid. Was the sound guy deaf? Or was he trying to drown out the bass from the Breaks tent> (he failed!). I came away with a ragged buzzing in one of my ears that's still there. Thanks

- the rank smell in the main dance tent. Like sour milk, or something worse. Yuk!

I didn't mind...
- the security, or the coppers patrolling in pairs. At least they smiled and occasionally said hello.

I did mind...
- the complete disregard of people smoking in the tents. Clearly it was Security and Police policy to allow smoking. Ok, the majority of people there seemed to smoke so I'll accept I'm in the minority.

James Holden played a great set, pity it never got that busy for him but it was an excellent warm-up for System 7.

I completely agree about the sound on Ulrich Schnauss's set. I left half way through because it all sounded the same to me, distorted and boring. There was no high end and mids like there really should have been with that kind of music. I don't see why the Funktion 1 rigs work so well in some tents and sound great (Sancho Panza) but completely failed in the Glade tent, it has to be the muppet controlling them!

I thought James Holden sucked. I've never seen him before and was expecting better. The music he was playin was absolute gash. Each to there own i suppose.

Pros
The weather and being able to sit on the ground and chat to random people
Met loads of really cool people made some new friends and met some friendly faces from last year.
Our camp buddies we had our irish crew, a guy from glasgow a guy from wales a few guys from huddersfield and a whole crew from devon and exceter

Cons
Dissapointed by sound levels
Thieves (stay at home next year assholes)
Having to leave
Ending up with a pretty bad cold when i got home.


Will definatley be back

Oh and i forgot to say, massive massive thanks to Sperge and everyone on here for making it possible for me to go in the first place, i will make sure i meet you lot next year, or maybe at a bangface some time, and get some drinks in!

this was my first glade and I had a great time,

however it was not good enough for me to contemplate returning next year. I went with a group of friends who have attended all 5 glades and ignoring 2007 as apparently recreating the somme doesnt really constitute a festival. They all said the same thing, the music levels are now so low that it is actually insulting to both the artists and punters. I personally could not believe just how quiet it really was, compared to the Dour festival in Belgium last year Glade just does not compete on sound levels. I understand that Belgium and England obviously have different laws but that fact is that if this a problem that the organisers have experienced every year for the last 3 years then why havn't they done anything about it.

Again I had so much fun and I really enjoyed the fact that it wasnt just 100,000 people crammed into any space going, also no one there seems to be wanting to make trouble. All the ingredients are there for this to be the best festival, easily in Europe, but the organisers are going to have to act fast. If you've commited to using the same site for the next couple of years then the only thing for it is to make sure that NONE of the local residents are there during the festival.

I have to say I agree with some comments on food pricing. Some stalls seemed like good value and had some great stuff on offer (mexican), but others really were over priced for what they were offering!

I did wince at the thought of £3.00 for a toasted sandwich, but I recommended a Cajun Chicken to a guy at 5.00am on Sunday morning when it seemed to be one of the few places still serving food at the time.

I also told him that he didn't have to eat the cage. It was optional.

Pros:-

* All of it. Best place in the entire world.
* Sun. Didnt have to put wellies on once. Result
* Thursday night Hula Hoop competitions.
* Bangface night. Unreal atmosphere, true true madness.
* People crowd surfing in Bangface on inflatable rubber duck dinghys.
* Lukes Anger, Godfather, Noisia, Pendulum, Warlock, Remarc, Bong Ra, Hellfish & Vibes + Livelee Friday night. Vibes & Livelee was hilarious, Noisia killed it hard. Hellfish was 100% Gabber fun, in fact every Dj was killing it.
* Bumping into Mr C outside Sancho Panza and shaking his hand. Legend
* Randomly chatting to loads and loads of people and losing track of time.
* Partying back at our tent with a cockney lad with a bottle of Sambuca who brought a stereo over for an impromptu 6am Dubstep session.
* Setting off at 6am Sunday morning to 'go find some new best mates' and walking past come and play to hear The Beatles - Sgt Peppers/With A Little Help From My Friends and having a sing song twatted.
* Chasing 2 lads through the fields with a bottle of Rush at 7am
* Distance, Scotch Egg, Vex'd, Autechre, Current Value, Donna Summer & Dubfire on Saturday
* The Bug & Flodan & Daddy Freddy....fucking hell. Sheer and utter vibes when they went b2b freestyling over Poison Dart. The place was exploding.
* Claude Von Stroke & Jeff Mills on Saturday night. I must have been wrecked because Jeff Mills sounded immense and I usually cant stand the fucker.
* Droon, Sickboy, Caspa + Rusko & Plastician rounding off Sunday nights music.
* Front flips.
* The Psy-Trance part of the festival. Nuts. Not into the music but the vibe is always wicked.
Ended up on the Guarana for an hour or two
* Techno Matress
* The Rabbit Hole on Sunday night. Going through that little miniature door in the Tipi and a lad asking us do we wanna go in the tunnel, on your hand and knees going through this pitch black tunnel until you end up in another tipi with Alice In Wonderland playing on a projector with people sledging everywhere, I was absolutely gone by this point from various sources and it nearly tipped me over the edge. Ended up in there for 7 hours till 3am Monday Morning. Alice In Wonderland was on a loop. Insane. Sitting round a campfire as well was boss.
Asked some chap with an empty seat next to him 'is anyone sitting there' and he replyed 'you are now mate' and passed me a smoke. That sums up the friendliness of Glade

Cons:-

* Vitalic no showing Friday and me not finding out till Sunday. Fuck knows who I was watching, thought it was a bit too light, was good whoever it was though.
* Drop The Lime no showing Saturday night. Gutted.
* Some knob in Overkill bouncing into me like a prick. Everyone was fuming at him knocking girls over etc, very nearly got lynched by about 20 people, glad he never as it would have spoiled a brilliant vibe.
* The sound in The Bug at times. Awful. Only time it really bothered me and it got better.
* Falling asleep at the back of Rotator at 3.30am for 20 minutes.
* Forgetting about the open decks.
* Sleep. 9 hours between Thursday and Monday equals me in pain all week this week.
* My head on Sunday night. Went a bit over the top all day Sunday and was a mess in The Rabbit Hole.
* The inevitable crushing depression when your leaving.

Mexican place gave me food poisoning that took half an hour out of Bang Face on friday so i took my neighbours adivce and only ate stuff with no meat in it for the rest of the festival.

Was my 1st ever Glade Festival and rather enjoyed the experience. Will defo go back in the future. I loved the way everyone is so calm, friendly and welcoming. Each tent and stage had its own unique feel which was pretty cool.

Only bad thing i would say was the sound was a bit quite at times later on in the evening which was annoying as you want to proper feel the bass.
