The official Glade feedback thread

Postby Sperge on 20 Jul 2008, 17:47

Hi, hope you've all had as fabulous a Glade as I did.

Was it an improvement on last year? Will you come again? What did you like most about Glade? What would you change?

Let the head honchos know here.

Personally I thought it was the best Glade since 2005. But your mileage may vary...

Hi,

It was good, especially with the weather back to normal 'glade' mode (sunny and (mostly) dry...).
Still found 2005 (and 2006) better....

Good points:
- Toilets: close to perfection.... (just a shame they are still chemical and not natural as at sunrise)
- Water point: Closer to stages, a lot better :-)
- Less people/more space: A general "less crowded" feeling all around and particularly on camp site.

Bad points:
- Shrinking Origin stage: getting smaller and smaller every year :-( and where was the fantastic deco of 2005?
- Origin noise cancelling: While working perfectly at cancelling noise, it generate annoying delay/reflection if you are on the border of the dancefloor.
- The "techno special" sunday 17.30 at Origin: What was that? How to killl the good vibes in less than 30 seconds...!!! I appreciate some people like it, but it was completely out of space... no happy finish for the psytrance this year!
- InSpiral: Missing the dome and more sound...
- Security: Come guy lets be serious: What was the point of searching very thoughtfully everyone coming back on sunday evening (just getting out and in to carry tents etc...). Would anyone bring anything in on sunday evening when everything is off!
- Security: I found them quite relax and nice Friday evening, but far too heavy/present on Sunday.
- Purple man: No trace of him this year :-(

All in all a good festival but lacking this little something special.... (probably the feeling of freedom and happy peoples of 2005).

i thought it was wicked (went last year too)
impressed by level of organisation

only gripe would be i couldnt find water points at all....stewards said other side of glade stage (no) or up the hill ? ...way less easier to find than last year....perhaps some proper signage as its a health and safety basic . . . .
remember it being right out side tents last year . . .
big ups to all that made it happen . . .

can we have model 500 live next year ...proper live techno band wouldve rocked it........

Well I have just got back from another awesome weekend - smiles all round from me and Mrs Tigmyth.

Highlights - in no particular order:

Utah Saints - blinding set, heaps of fun
Slack Baba - was surprised it was mostly tunes I didn't know, a new album in the pipeline?
Plump DJs - outstanding, simply blown away by their amazing set.
Zubzub - fantastic, sounded like I imagine very early Ozrics sets used to sound.
Atomic Drop - bonus!!! Hadn't heard of these guys previously but they had me literally laughing out loud with glee.

Plus loads of others, just waiting to get all my memories back :)

See you all again next year.

Absolutely awesome for me - loved the whole weekend.. no moans from me!

I heard a worrying rumour that they'd made a massive loss on it - hope not, can't wait for next year

Ok ive had some much needed sleep and vaguely remember this.......

Good
Jeff Mills!
Music Programing and quality Fri and Sat
Less Crowd , happy vibes
The Weather
Spongey Ground
Random people
Food
Toilets and Showers
Sound Quality

Bad
Sound VOLUME
Hardly Any decor?? (fair play if to cut costs)
The amount of minimal, techno, dubstep stuff on Sunday, not all of us are lightweights and want to chill or dance looking at the floor.

So all in all a bloody good weekend, apart from THE SOUND! which ironically is why most of us go.
Will i go next year?.....id be kidding myself if i said no. Love it to much.

had a wicked time, back to the vibe of 2005 :)

Pro's

The weather :)
Nicely spread out campsite (it was really quiet where we were, up on the hill behind InSpiral)
The great people i camped with, and nicki and helen who got married in the chapel sunday afternoon it was hilarious :D
The awesome selection of foods at glade, how nice were those pies
musical highlights for me were Slack Baba, Tomb Crew, Ital Tek,Zen Mechanics, CJ Bolland, System 7, Jeff Mills, Cassetteboy, Scotch Egg, Logic Bomb, caspa & Rusko, Ulrich Schnauss  So, my usual blend of every style of music on offer, love it!!
Cider and real ale!!!!!!!!!
seeing all the police and security looking very bored as they had nothing to do
Alan

Con's
The "techno" origin special. You should be ashamed - that wasnt techno. Far too dull, i agree with all the comments on sundays musical programming, too much dub and minimal sounds.
missing lee burridge - in fact, i only went in sancho panza once all weekend, and left again when i realised they didnt sell cider.
no naked painted guy
saw pendulum play fasten your seatbelts which was ok, then i had to leave. Was busy in there though. Glad they drew a big crowd, but i still hate them.

My first Glade & though I had a great time I have come back feeling that there was something missing-I really expected more
Nice, friendly crowd-well aside from the guy that went round robbing people early hours of Saturday morning, then got chased down by a mob before running into the woods-does anyone know if he was caught? Or how the land rover ended up sinking in the bog?
Good to also see that security was spot on.

Pros
Good toilets
The smaller vibe I wouldn't mind if it was 10000 next year!
Bang face
Friendly security well from my experience of talking to them! i'm sure there were bad apples

Cons
The sound only at times though much better record than previous years.
I also can't think of much else i'm sure something will come to me.
The abuse of Prizna feat. Demolition Man - Fire  must of heard it 4 times :panic:

I wanna say that this forum is pathetic.
This is meant to be a space for points of view yet it is the most censored forum I have ever been on.
Anything negative or honest is quickly wiped off the boards, as is any comment relating to Drug use.
There are even people who reckon the music was loud enough after 12 and think anyone that disagrees has a hearing problem. I actually felt wrong talking to my mate at a normal level cos I didn't want to disturb the DJ, then the Origin stage was like listening to 2 separate sound systems or more depending where you stood-though was a great game to see who could find the point of synchronicity.
Let me say again the security relating to searches was out of order considering the amount of class A's being sold by professional dealers-when I say pro's the same dudes have been at nearly every event I've been to, to the point I know who they are, where they'll be on Friday and when they pack up for the summer- **libel deleted**

Lets face it most of you censoring this are public schoolboys with dreads & rich parents and reality isn't somewhere you cosmic kids live.
Be brave enough to let others have their say-don't matter if you like or agree with my views that Glade has drug use that.
I'm pleased I went to Glade but truly cant imagine coming back to the Ket Fest or wobble country fair next year.

What a wicked weekend!! Gutted its over man.

Acts that did it for me were:
Billy Nasty,
Lee Burridge,
Dubfire,
Ans & Allaby
Plus many others who i can't remember.

Really well organised; the sound was quiet on the Friday night but i thought Sunday night made up for it by continuing on after 8 (is that a first?). Weather was great, people were cool and so were security. I will be going to Glade for many more years to come hopefully....

8)

Feel depressed its over :(
You just can't beat factually-correct rave talk...

Back from Glade and I feel like shit. However I do feel it was the most enjoyable mainly because of the crowd Glade for me.

good points:
Crowd
Monkey dust
weather
Jeff Mills
KJ Sawka
Lee Burridge
Sancho Panza

Bad points:
Sound levels on Friday and Saturday Day were absolutely shocking everywhere apart from Sancho Panza. Deekline and wizard were piss poor, It sounded completely droned out, No mid range to the sound systems at all. No atmosphere at all in Overkill or Breaksday. Saturday night the sound was much better and I found myself having it in Sancho Panza and during Jeff Mills in Vapor. Sunday was loud as fuck and Breaksday was the loudest I have ever heard it, only shameful it was Dubstep and not Breaks.
Far to much Dub being played on Sunday which I couldn't get away from. Ended up back in Sancho Panza and grooving to some old school house music which was very enjoyable and certainly finished with a bang.

Big disappointment with the main stage going back to a tent and not the semi outdoor stage there was last year. I feel as though the main stage should always be something a bit special and a focal point for the festival.

Overall, It was definitely the best Glade but I won't be going back if the sound is not sorted throughout the whole festival.

I'd like to say that I added a whole blurb on shit security (so nice of you to cut off my sentence to misquote me) to the above, drug dealing, **libel deleted** etc but was edited by some twat that thinks he is better than me, his opinion is more valid than mine, why cos he went to public school, has dreads, jumped the fence and probably a dealer!

Following up on my previous post...

Big pro:
The organisation globally, but it's Glade and it has always been like that.
The line-up was very good (Kana was fantastic, Laughing Buddha+Tristan too...)

Big Minus:
The license restrictions: Outdoor stages: it was so nice to have outdoor glade (last year) and half outdoor Origin (2005).
Tents are an effective way to contain sound and avoid rain but they are such an horrible place when it's sunny.... but hopefully I stayed at Origin (except during the "techno" horror... people willing to listen to F1 motors go to a racetrack not on Origin dance floor (yes I repeat myself but I really hate you for that).
