A truly magical festival!

Sunrise Celebration is now taking place jointly with the Big Chill on 1-3 August in Hereford.

A truly magical festival!

Postby Sperge on 31 Jul 2008, 15:28

Slypsy has texted to say there's loads of 'special' mushrooms growing in the field where he's camped. :D

Not that anyone is going to pick any of them up, of course.

Yea all reports I've heard so far are that it's gonna be a good year for not picking the fruits of the forest :)

That is early. Anyone know any good locations near Leeds/ Huddersfield for observing these funghi in their natural habitat? I collect photos of mushroooms, but since moving to the area I have been unable to photograph the beautiful gills of the liberty cap. (I can point you in the right direction in North Devon though). I promise I wouldn't pick any.

if you have half a clue it's pretty difficult to mis-identify a liberty cap, right? and apparently it's lookalikes are only tummy ache bad.

unless you mistake an immature death cap for one. possibly not so good...

sperge, please post!

It's all down to this global warming/climate change.

Haven't you heard?

July is the new October!
My body? Well, not so much a temple as a fucked in, shat upon, pissed up, puked over rusty old bus shelter with all the glass kicked in, and I'll treat it accordingly. If that's alright with you?

Still alive.

But of course I didn't eat any liberty caps, that'd be against the law and stuff.

Don't forget Slypsy has a PhD in soil science and he contacted a mate who has very detailed knowledge of fungi, who confirmed they were the good shit.

Remember that the season for them in Wales is mid-summer to September - and Eastnor is only a few miles from the border with Wales.

And yes, they certainly did contain psilocybin. Erm, allegedly.

Actually, i am a soil microbiologist/microbial ecologist, not a soil scientist!

I was certain that they were liberty caps, but as with may others, had never heard of them coming out so early so called up my friend how did his whole phd on soil fungi (and now uses the username Dr Mushroom :D ) to double check. And liberty caps indeed they were; although of course my interest was purely academic.
