I am 100% munted. Impressive since (other than water & juice) I had 1/2 pint of ale and a can of Red Bull. I'm sooo out of practice!

But yeah - VERY cool, though the main room was way too hot for my liking. The breaks were the real treat for me though. Has nothing to do with one of the Far Too Loud guys being drop dead gorgeous, of course - nothing at all!!! :wackyhat:

Hi Exulus, did you go into the Ship & Shovel at any point?

Tavdy thought he recognised you playing on the slot machine near the gents (no, that's not some kind of euphemism ;)). But he wasn't sure if it was you because the guy wasn't pulling a silly face like in your avatar (apologies if that's how you look all the time! ) so he was too shy to ask if it was you.

haha, good thing he didnt! We were stuck on the train outside of paddington till about 10.20 because of a derailment or something :? Then got lost at Charing Cross (came out the wrong tube exit and was being given vague directions by my drunken mate on the phone!) so finally made it into the club about 11.15 and straight to Far Too Loud (why didnt they have the bass bins on :(). No pub for us :(

Far Too Loud were far too good! I wasn't initially sure about having them on first (with no warm-up act) but they were a great way to start the night!

well well well .... true to Dave, way way to hot ! but in a weird way it was nice the smell of sweat everywhere, gave it a real nice dirty rave feel , everyone giving it all they got ....

Breaks ; Fantastic, missed Far too Loud , but I mean, the breaks was Michelin * shit .... Rennie was awesome, as was Hybrid, Phil Hatnoll and Aquasky, Quest was good but at the end played some 10minute teaser then turned the music off, upon asking for one more after blatently leaving us hanging he came out with ***mod edit*** or something, and then didnt even look at the ravers. .. oh he also took the piss out of Kent saying kent and good night dont go together ... all out attitude ... so wrong ... ( odnt know if anyone was there till the end who understands )
at the end of the day from 11.30 - 6 it was non stop sweatage .....

People ; great vibe, I took some Fungas, so for an hour it was pure paranoia, but bless this guy that stood with me during Hybrid to insure me no one was looking at me, finally after a couple of cheeky smokes inside, I manage to let go of this thought and continue on the night, the guy went to see TRistan and I carried on with the Rave putting off the toilet for ages cos the music was so damn good !

after that went to the Psy for an hour of Deep beats, not bad after the breaks, I was expecting it to me tooo bland but got my blood and sweat going ....

finished, went outside , had a chat to the bloke who runs Synergy, had a smoke with a japanese guy who had been in London 2 months, good chat. went home died ...

GREAT FUCKIN NIGHT ! :wackyhat:

Right ill try and reply properly now. Ill do the "bad" things first to get them out the way:

Some friends leaving early because they couldnt get into it :( (didnt help they spent half their time searching for various things and not finding them)
They wouldnt turn on the bass for most of far too loud (but they were fucking brilliant non the less).
Getting lost and never actually finding the chillout room.
Rude barstaff when asking for tap water grrr..but that happens in lots of places i guess.
Uber UBER hot in the main room and a bit too packed..couldnt spend more than half an hour in there at a time.

Anyway...the good! :D
Fucking brilliant night, excellent music.
Excellent sound system.
Cool decor.
Happy smiley bouncey people! :wackyhat:
The doctor who breaks mix?! Who why what how when was that :fear: :?
Sex and drugs and sex and drugs and sex and drugs and rock and rollllllllllllll in the breaks room (yeah its cheesy..but i liked it :p)
Some fun psy going on..not really too my taste as it seemed to just plod along for the most of it but still a good bounce was had!
The minimal room with the huge faaaaarkofff fan that helped cool me down no end.
The random guy in the coat and beanie..must have been sooooo hot!

Really enjoyed it, thank you glade crew :) Oh and when i got home i watched the Spaced episode where they go clubbing in SEOne, brilliant :D

I saw/heard a couple of the bog attendants over-react as well, so it wasn't just a problem with the barstaff. Heaven (like most gay nightclubs) has a reputation for being quite "attitudey" (to the point where XXL has built it's reputation on it's lack of attitude) so my guess is the staff aren't used to the more chilled-out attitude of hippies & ravers. It makes sense since a lot of gay people go through hell as teenagers, and that can make you emotionally calloused and insensitive.

Ah yeh that reminds me, i accidentally (honest!) used an out of order bog, i really didnt see the sign, when i came back out the guy had a right go at me. I said sorry straight away and that i honestly didnt see it (the door was half open and i tapped a few times to make sure there was no one in there anyway...he obviously didnt see me do that  ). He gave me a right lecture, calling me stupid and stuff. Oh well..i just shrugged it off.

Anywho...i discovered my phone can record club noise to a reasonable level/quality without going garblegarblegarble like most do :D

getting arsey over being asked for water is inexcuseable, they are required by law to give it to you, and will be shut down if they don't, you can always remind them of that.

as for being called stupid by someone who babysits toilets for a living... :haha:

Word I've had from the organisers on STIR is:

"The club was full to capacity, so I think we have now found our long term home for Glade indoors - it's a crackin' club."

Well, that's what they say on the Spaced DVD commentary anyway. Someone on the Spaced forum said it was The Cross, which is in the industrial park near King's Cross station, like Bagley's was. Not sure if The Cross occupies the same buildings as Bagley's did or not. But anyway, most of the scenes were filmed in that area it seems.

There's always a possibility that one or two cutaway scenes were filmed in SEOne (dunno for sure, as I've never been inside there - we were meant to go one time but the goddamn queue was just moving way too slow for our liking).

whilst i never give internet trolls and shit talkers any ammunition, i was brought attention to this by a mate and have to say, this is the biggest load of lies, i have ever heard in my life and out of pure respect for Glade/Stir have to say something!!!

10 minute tease? well the set is about to be hosted and you'll see for yourself what a load of crap it is you're talkin about.. i don't even understand what u mean by that! the music was cut off on order by the club like any other dj who has to play last set!!! i don't even have tunes that go on for much longer than 6 minutES!

I took the piss out of Kent? what the fuck are u on about? how did i do that? did i turn the music off and shout? did i have a sandwich board saying it? what the fuck do i have against Kent? u either took some very bad drugs and imagined this or u must have been in another room where a dj may have done that and the same goes towards about "paying council tax" or something... u are either a very horrible person who seems to have something against me or u really took bad drugs..

on a positive note, was a cool night.. nice to see a breaks night so packed out in London!!!!

ezzz!

Hello :) (Calla here)

Everyone has different opinions on things, different attitudes and different perspectives on things.

Jem is most certainly not a horrible person, I dont see that he has launched an attack on you, rather said what he's seen and expressed his opinion - if he is in any way untrue, then thats fair to say so, but not in the way that it has been done - or even just ignore it, I cant see that you have done yourself any favours.

I can completely understand that Jem+Paranoia+drugs could = confusion, but if that is the case then he can hardly be blamed. If you did do those things and say those things then its probably just those differing attitudes i was talking about.

And as for Jem having something against you, I think he's just got into breaks, so I dont really think thats likely.

I dont want to make any complete conclusions on this, as i wasnt there. I'm a person who shoots their mouth off at any given opportunity, some people like me for that, some people hate me with a passion because I think southerners dont get sarcasm or because I tell people how things should be done - but if they start going about saying 'Calla said this' and it was true then I would say yes i did and argue my case if it were true, or simply set them straight if it were untrue (in a sensible way), or if it was just some random on a fairly small forum, ignore them. I also know that Jem isnt in anyway malicious, and I know you are reasonable as ive discussed other stuff with you before.

All i can say is i was quite sober that night and every single one of these stupid nonsense allegations are completely untrue and unfounded..the guy must have been in a different room or tripping off his head.. It is an attack on me because its complete and utter bollox what he's said and i take things like that very seriously as i don't ever want people thinking i would so much as think those things let alone say them..mean shit like

"oh he also took the piss out of Kent saying kent and good night dont go together"

wtf does STIR have to do with Kent? i've never played a breaks party in Kent since about 4 years ago?!?!?!?!?

Hi mate ...

Walking out that room I wasnt the only person who said exactly the same thing .... I dont know anyone personally, but I do remember having a chat with a girl with devil horns on about the end of your set .... (which isnt going to be much use right now ha ha )

At the end of the set a real drawn out slow peice of shite was played, it was teasing the audience, I think it was a little shit how you done that, even after people begging for one more tune ... I understand music has to come off at a certain time, I just think its a pisstake knowing people want breaks and instead giving some drawn out slow build up/down and then turning it off ....

A guy went up to give a flier to a night in Kent ( I believe it may have been canterbury ) and from behind the booth the words , 'Kent and good night dont go together' .... this may have been said as a joke, but because I generally thought you had a bit of attitude I took it at face value and it dented my opinion even further .....

I aint a milicious person mate, I am just telling people how I thought the night panned out, yes other things may have been involved , but these had no implications of what I saw and heard .....

Maybe you are a top guy, I dont know as I dont know you, but I thought personally you had a bit of an attitude up there .... Just like you think I am a liar and whatever else ......

At the end of the day I am saying what I heard, in regards to the council tax thing, something was said along the lines of, ' do you pay ther council tax ' pay your coucil tax ' or something along those lines .... again I thought this was abit more attitude, when people are asking for one more tune I thought you could have said something diffrent from that ......

If I have said something to offend you then sorry.....

haha wtf??

i said to the person that gave me a flyer that i never knew breaks parties went on in Canterbury which is a good thing that people are putting breaks on the map in cities that haven't had breaks nights before??? jesus christ!! (I never even knew Canterbury was in Kent till u just pointed it out!!! i thought it was next to Cambridge!)! And they never gave me a flyer behind the decks..it was way earlier in the night on the dancefloor thank u..I even said for them to give me a ding/email and i'll come down to support it...

And as for last tune, it was a dubsteppy/breakstep tune on Supercharged!(called Sludge) go check it mate, hardly f**kin ten minutes...Sorry YOU never liked it but it seemed by the amount of people dancing, u were in the minoirty (as are most forum trolls).. i then got told to turn off the music as it was end of the night which i did..I'm not in the habit of pssing off sound engineers / promoters by ignorning them thanks... I don't know what the fuck else u mean about council tax, maybee someone else said it but i never said that in a million years thank u...

End of convo from me.. not gonna drag myself to this level anymore of having to explain myself to a liar or at the very least, an extremley confused person.....

Oh dear.

Hello, DJ Quest (presuming you are who you say you are). I see Jemo has said things about what happened during your set and you strongly dispute his version of events. Fair enough. Some things have turned out to be misunderstandings, e.g. the Canterbury leaflet, while others are differences of opinion, e.g. the final tune.

Jemo may have got some of the specific things he said wrong, we all know how confusing things can get in a noisy club environment at 6am. I wasn't there during your set, so I'll never know for sure who's right and who's wrong - but either way, your strong rebuttals are here for all to see.

But I have to say that the general thrust of what Jemo was saying - that you came across as being full of "attitude" - is proven by the tone of of your own messages here. I think I should also point out that the reason I missed your set is that two of my friends, both of whom are well known on the London breaks scene, boycotted your set on a matter of principle due to what they (and others) see as your persistent spamming and bigging up of yourself on other forums.

That is a real pity, as I know others who speak very highly of your mixes and production. Perhaps you could do with developing a thicker skin, especially at this stage in your career? How many times do you think someone like Fatboy Slim sees comments on forums by people bitching about his mixing skills, his tune selection etc? How do you think he would look if he resorted to hounding his critics on piddling little forums like this to save face? Surely his best response is to continue playing sets to hundreds of thousands of people who've come to see him doing things his way?

It's up to you, it's your career, but I think I know which of the two approaches is more likely to work in the long run.

Anyway, you've said your piece and hopefully that's the end of it. Jemo is a valued member here. He may be as daft as a brush at times but I don't believe he has a malicious bone in his body. You'll be welcome to stick around here too if you like, as long as you abide by our rules like everyone else.

so let me get this right.. someone spouts absolute lies and unfounded allegations about me and i'm not allowed to defend myself? I actually feel sorry for you too that an admin needs to get childish and personal with the other unfounded comments/allegations..

I have extremly thickskin but when people want to sprout lies and speak of events that never happen, then i am entitled to defend myself thanks whether that may come across as having a bad attitude to a FEW of you or not.....

thanks and i'm done here
