The company went from being part of secret productions to being a couple of the directors of SGP and some other bods just running it.. but for whatever reason (probably cash related) it's flopped

Leakatron - you rock. You have been more helpful than anyone else. And I thank you.

So. Basically, is no news god news or is it basically not happening in 2013

Glade is no more. It lost too much money last year. Sad news indeed.

Gh0sty is that speculation or are you in the know that that is a fact?

Like Jake Burns said: "If someone knew for sure - or it was their place to say - they would either say it's not on or be trying to flog you a ticket."

Rewast, if whoever is now in charge of Glade wants to make an announcement, they will do so when they are good and ready. They are not going to do so just because some guy on a forum sees himself as some kind of Jeremy Paxman figure trying to get a straight answer out of an evasive politician. :P

Does anyone else wonder how its possible for such a Tenacious festival to just pop out of existence?

I mean, consider the failure of 2010, that must have cost a fortune but it was back in 2011, the site was basic but great, even though it had been rolled back to less than 6000 people and the weather was crap it still pulled a profit.

How was it possible to go from Solvent to catastrophically overspent? I just can't get my head round it.

For the owners to fight so much for something, then for it to sputter out of existence without any notice or consultation is just beyond me.

they probably were financially fucked after the cancellation, but must have pitched one hell of a presentation to an ambitious company (secret productions) open to expansion with boutique and niche festivals, with an existing customer base.

Secret productions took the project and will have funded 2011 and 2012, and having been at both there is no way either could have turned any sort of profit. there just simply wasn't enough people there.

Basically, secret productions have lost too much money on glade, and don't want to take another financial risk this year. massive shame, but perfectly logical.

Unless there is some other company/sugar daddy/dragon out there who wants to put their hand in their pocket to fund it, then i don't think we will see Glade again.

Just my two pence

Because none of the people who originally made it happen are involved any more. Nick Ladd became an md of two other festivals, Mark and Luke left after the cancellation, while Ans stayed on as the last of the original directors. He stayed for 2011 and 2012 but basically isn't involved any more. He feels he's done his bit and is now concentrating on his young family.
