I have to admit I find him quite funny, although he goes just a bit over the top at times with his voice

Oh Lauren! :o

And I thought you were so cool too!

I've only seen/heard him a few times and he does come across as an unfunny twat on those occasions. I don't rule out the possibility that I've missed his really good stuff though. Do you have any links?

As far as the thread is concerned, I actually missed most of the hullabaloo that erupted over all this, would you believe? I just saw a link posted elsewhere to the full clip of the show and based my judgement on that. To be honest, I think the Daily Mail anti-BBC crusade and the saturation coverage across the mass media was ridiculously overblown now that I've looked through most of it.

What I didn't know at the time was that there were about 10 days between the recording of the show and the whole media circus. It seems Georgina did indeed go to one Mr Max Clifford to make capital out of it. Not that any of this makes what happened on that show excusable, they were bang out of order, but I accept there was more to this one than meets the eye now.

i love how she was so embarresed about the whole thing that she sold the story of her 4 day fling with brand & all the details, even what he was like in bed, to the papers.
surely that wll make grandad sachs & the family even happier....

Yeah but to be fair & to give her some credit, I fucking would!
She hadn't kissed & telled to the papers in the past had she? & Brand was supposed to be a friend :? ...If I had a famous friend that then treated me like a total cunt in front of the whole country & did what they did then yes, I think I too would be inclined to make the best I could out of a horrenedous situation & make some £ out of it.
so I think she'd have been more of a 'twat' to have not done really. She'll prob make enough money to buy house just from a couple of interviews on their own so you can't blame her. Rather nice little earner when you think about it.
Also fuck the papers pulling her up on her bondage/fetish (by the way not past but very much present) lifestyle... it has nowt to really do with the situation of Brand & Ross being total tits & people who are implying that she deserved the treatment becuase she has this lifestyle are very narrow minded idiots at best.
When all this 'satanic sluts' thing came out I was cringing thinking 'OMG please do not run video footage, stills etc from their DVD/BOOK project' (As I took part in this & I'm on the book/dvd cover)... The press have totally jumped on the fact she's a part of s.s like it makes her a bad person/means she deserves to be treated like shit by immature men & (yes, I agree not a great name choice & so partly their fault) people have very much misunderstood what it's all about. It's tongue in cheek & a bit of fun  People need to stop getting their knickers in a twist about it.
It's funny because up until now S.S was prob only known to a small handfull of people in the alt/fetish scene. Now it's like a household name haha. Their offices have been getting flooded by calls from the press, It's mad!

I never found his stand up dvd's funny atall, but I liked him when he first came about. His podcasts used to be pretty jokes but I only really kept on listening to them because Noel Gallagher used to come on quite alot.

He hasnt been funny for the last 18 months really. I met him once though and he was pretty sound so i still like to watch him.

How coincidental that Georgina Baillie is rumoured to be appearing in "I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here" soon

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/celebrity/a ... celeb.html

Funny how she has taken Max Clifford on as her publicist too.

Attention seeking media hype stirred up on purpose to boost her profile?...........No surely not :P

This whole palava about the russel brand and Jonathan ross thing really annoyed me, cos even though they were out of order with the joke they were not to blame! It's the job of the bbc controller to decide what content is allowed into the radio show and seeing as they asked permission and then were refused yet the controller still went ahead to air it means the two weren't to blame as they were merely following orders as it were, the controller should've pulled the joke and it's stupid that there were no reprecussions for the controller and his staff, stupid media, completely missing point and protocol as always

yeah, as soon as i heard the name max clifford i thought it all started to look a lot like an elaborate publicity-getting exercise. whether it goes as far as brand deliberately using his privileged, licence fee-funded position to 'sort out' his pal georgie with a lift out of non-celebrity will probably never be established.

nevertheless, the fact that so many people find this humiliation culture acceptable remains a bit of a worry, imo. indeed, headteachers complained that tolerance of the kind of behaviour displayed by brand and ross hinders their efforts to curb bullying in schools. but what would headteachers know?

if they had personal standards there wouldn't have been anything for the controller to fail to censor. but maybe it is reasonable for people to need nanny around to tell them to mind their ps and qs.

what is most galling about this is people making a shitload of money for doing absolutely fuck all when other people can't afford to feed their kids properly.

Whether necessary or not it's still the controllers job to censor content such as this and seeing as the controller asked and was refused permission to use the joke on the show beforehand, yet still gave the go ahead, the fault is with the controller, it's not the job of talent to censor their own material, thats why there are controllers of content in the first place. To be honest i didn't even find it that offensive and the blame has been placed squarely away from the bbc's failing behind the scenes staff.

It was a failure of the behind-the-scenes staff that this segment was allowed to air, certainly. The surrounding hoo-ha was whipped up out of all proportion by the likes of the Daily Mail being manipulated by Max Clifford, as we know.

But as far as whether the calls themselves were offensive, I think this is one of those "agree to disagree" situations really. To me and several others here, it was straightforward bullying for reasons already gone over several times. The "victim" certainly found them offensive. If you still don't see it that way, let's just agree to disagree.
