The best Beavis and Butt-Head episode ever was when they found a guy called Harry Sachs (uhuhuhuhuh hairy sacks uhuhuhuh) in the directory and kept ringing him up.

Unfortunately it's not on YouTube, even the DVD doesn't have the proper version of the episode because they cut out all the music vids and this one had Butt-Head beating up Beavis "for his own good" for starting to like Bon Jovi.

Why, exactly?

This was not banter between mates. It was a public humiliation of someone who had done nothing to deserve it. Ross and Brand abused their wealth and power to act like a pair of schoolyard bullies. Have you heard the whole thing? They didn't just make the one call, they called him three times, adding insult to injury:



Brand was clearly itching to boast about his 'conquest'. He and Ross also perhaps felt slighted because Andrew Sachs had failed to turn up on their show. There's the 'motive', they wanted to 'punish' Sachs for his no-show.

I can only think that you think it's funny because you're identifying with Ross and Brand having got themselves into an embarrassing situation and digging themselves into a deeper and deeper hole. But that shows an amazing lack of empathy for the two victims in this - Andrew Sachs and Georgina Baillie. It's also pretty blatant to me that the whole 'blurting out' of this information was 'accidentally on purpose', it all seems very contrived and not at all spontaneous.

The trouble with this is that it's been turned into an inter-generational spat and a Daily Mail anti-BBC crusade. I've not been taking much notice of all of that crap, I've just heard the actual show for myself and formed my own opinion.

It's one thing if Sachs was a mate of theirs. But he wasn't and it was two egotistical blokes, who are a bit full of themselves with their wealth and fame, bullying a guy who had done nothing to deserve it. And that's exactly what it was - bullying. There's nothing cool or clever or cutting-edge about bullies.

He's a lot like me, not just the hair either. Doesn't often say anything intelligent, but whenever he does, it's really worth listening to him.

I learned to shut up and listen in real life, but I bet if I were on TV for a living I'd blather verbal diarrhoea and attention-seek just as much as Brand. I know I do it on forums....
