I think I might make a beeline for the Detroit tech night with Jeff Mills..

The project last year was a bit shit though to be honest... no atmosphere!!

Afx is my birthday week, they apparently had 500 "early bird" tickets priced at £15, but given that they sent out a press release with tickets priced at £17, it sounds like they've taken the money and run. I'll bet half the tickets are with touts right now.

F**kers.

I'm in the "hope he plays somewhere else and plays sandpaper to the Warehouse crowd" camp at the moment.

The location is an old air-raid shelter under Piccadilly. They had many sound-level issues with the council (sound familiar?) due to the semi-openair nature of the venue. There were two events here over easter weekend and although I did not attend, I have not heard any complaints about the volume.

Nice one, fletch. :)
Top one. Nice one. Get sorted.

Okay, did anyone goto this?

I was a little bit dissapointed to be honest. My expectations were pretty high. But after a several years absence from the UK scene (I might be wrong there, but he's hardly played any sets (if at all) i'm sure) I was expected something a little more special from Mr James... I thought the first half of his set was pretty slow and dull. Good pregression yes, but it did drag in places. The finale towards the end was proper banging, but a lot of the material wasn't even his... To be honest I felt a bit cheated. I was more impressed with Viberts set (but he's always good!)

Aphex's dancers were a nice touch. Pretty dark. Three very large middle aged men gurning there socks off and dancing out of time to the music, was a bit freaky to say the least...

Top venue though. Amazing atmosphere and sound. Although I was disgusted that they dont give you the lids to bottled water. Mind you, it didnt take much to swipe them back when the bartenders were fiddling around in the till...

Thats a bit gash, AFX plays so rarely that when hes down on a proper line-up you'd expect him to pull out at least a few of the stops. Three gurning blokes as dancers sounds like a hilarious touch.

And no lids for bottled water is pretty shite. Hopefully it doesn't catch on in other clubs.
