Wasing at all costs?

Glade Festival is Britain's biggest and best non-corporate electronic dance music festival, with a proper havin' it vibe. CANCELLED!

I don't like seeing the neighbours getting slagged off like this...

Most of the villagers don't care about the festival or noise levels - some even love that Glade is so close by! However it only takes a couple of locals who don't like the noise to come forward at license hearings etc to cause the restrictions we hear each year, and I'm sure they have valid reasons to complain. Said restrictions are a massive shame but really I think the sound was pretty close to getting the right balance for both parties this year. Apart from Overkill of course but so many people have complained about this so surely it will be sorted in 2008.

Bit of a silly question, I'd still go the the Glade wherever it is held.
Are there better sites than Wasing?, and should Glade move to another site? are the questions that need asking really.

Nope, the question was put that way for a reason.

There have been one or two individuals insisting that the Glade must move because of what they claim to be excessive decibel restrictions. So I thought i would run this straw poll to gauge whether most people who come on this forum are that bothered about it. Apparently not, going by current trends. It's looking like there is a highly vociferous minority while most are fine with things as they are.
Top one. Nice one. Get sorted.

A better question would be:

If it's at Wasing, will all the moaners feck off and leave the rest of us to have a top time?

Id like to see how many people wouldnt go to glade if it wasnt at wasings? I definitly dont want it to move, as its like a tradition, we always camp in the same spot, I feel like its a second home or somthing etc. Im not sure i would definitly go if it moved...

After reading that, I'd change my answer to no.

I clicked yes thinking that it was in reference to the site itself, rather than any implications caused by the location and locals.

Wasing estate is lovely, and I doubt you'd find a better place. But if I had to choose between a nice place or a solid sound system, I'd choose the later. If there are going to be the same noise/volume restictions, it has to move or the Overkill tent's going to be empty next year.

It was just too quiet in there.

oo watch out, this one's a comedian!

I would go to glade if it was still at wasing because hardly ever get a lineup like that and because the vibe is brilliant

whats wrong with helping them with suggestions to try and improve? and improving, in my opinion would involve going somewhere else. And I did have a top time thank you, and you know what someone said to me about me 'always had a smile on yer face'. I aint a moaner.

I take no comedic credit for brazenly stealing Sperge's astute observation that a hell of a lot of people who are moaning are either moaning because of the Overkill and/or the car park.... The latter of these problems I think was unavoidable, considering the ridiculous circumstances. And yes, I agree the Overkill was quiet (when I was in there on Friday evening, at least) but it was the Origin stage (or it could have been the Liquid stage?) that I could hear from 5 miles away across the fields on Sunday, so I doubt the decibel restrictions were at fault there.

I aint a moaner.

You certainly seem to be, judging by your posts on here! But then, this board isn't real life is it. :)
