Who got robbed?

Glade Festival is Britain's biggest and best non-corporate electronic dance music festival, with a proper havin' it vibe. Glade 2009 FAQ.

Someone entered my tent at about 6am on the first night at Big Chill and was starting to unzip the inner tent when I turned round in 'bring it on' mode. I just heard a "sorry mate" and sharp exit - too sharp for me to clock his features to report him unfortunately. It looks like tent robbers are back in fashion at all the festivals again. :x

I can't imagine it's particularly profitable at £130 a ticket

A couple of people with £50 spare cash in their tent and one i-pod. Crime always pays, otherwise why would anyone take the risk?

I suppose so. I was basing my flawed logic on the fact that nobody would keep cash or i-Pods in their tent. (Not that an iPod is worth much second hand anyway.)

Perhaps explains why robbers had to resort to desperation (i.e. physical assaults) to get stuff? i.e. cos there were no easy pickings, which means hopefully they'll go elsewhere on the rob next year. There never seem to be many robberies at Glade.

I'm sure there was easy pickings, most people have wised up its true but surely you know how suseptible humans are to the "it won't happen to me" way of thinking.

I was shocked to hear that some people got things stolen at MUDFEST. Could have been a lot worse considering there weren't many of us that got in through that short window of entry.

Glad to hear round 2 was better.

As far as personal security goes I'm well over cautious anyway, having had a mobile stolen by a supposed mate before. Even walking down the street I'm careful about what I've got on show. Plenty of scrotes around watching everyone like hawks. And thats only the CCTV... theres criminals aswell doing it :haha:

I am just a little paranoid but at the same time, being robbed at a festival would be the proverbial bird shitting in my eye - it would make me

That's one damn good camera you brought with you, no wonder you're so protective of it.

Personally, I would keep the bits I'm not using at the AAA property lock-up, they're pretty safe even if the people at the desk look a bit wasted at times.

But I'm not so sure I have as much confidence in the lock-ups run by CND and FoE etc at other festivals such as Glasto and BC, as they've started making people sign disclaimers absolving them of any responsibility whatsoever for losses. Hardly inspires you with confidence, even though I'm sure such a clause would probably have no legal standing in court (in which case, why are the buggers using this underhand tactic to deter people from making a valid claim...?). I wouldn't mind so much but the Glasto and BC programmes bang on about how it's the safest place to keep stuff - but they make no mention of this disclaimer. :x

yeah - my camera cost a LOT and although it is insured fully against anything that could go wrong, it was my ticket into the festival and I wanted to take pictures over the weekend :)

im lucky nothing has ever happened to me but i do have a healthy level of paranoia at all times - its part of the parcel of growing up in east london if you like the stuff you pay for to remain your property!

That's probably in case of arson, etc. Saves them paying extra to insure the lockups (which would, in theory, be a prime target for real professional thieves, but the risk of this is very small so not worth insuring). If it's manned 24/7 it certainly shouldn't be robbed! But anything can happen - why take the risk of having to fork out thousands (and the rest) in claims?

All public and most private car parks have the same disclaimer.

this is always my plan, my "festival shorts" contain a pocket for my phone, my camera, my money/bank card, and my uh, other stuff.

as i decided to sleep outside my tent on monday morning (which by the way was fantastic and i would definately recommend) i had put all my valuables hidden in my shoes next to me. unfortunately i took my camera out for some last night photos & videos and passed out before putting it away. i'm normally quite a light sleeper however having had a lot to smoke i didn't wake up when some cunt must have literally walked up right next to me and stolen my camera.

the thing is i wouldn't mind so much if it was my phone or ipod or anything cause they're easily replaceable, i just think its really mean to steal someones camera on the last day of a festival, i had so many amazing photos and videos from the weekend that i'll never get back now. bastards!

I've done this at a couple of previous Glades, it is indeed a top thing to do.

Also what the hell are they going to do with a camera?? You can't exactly sell it for much can you? New ones that take amazing photos can be had for much less than £100 these days, so second hand unboxed with no manual you'd be looking at £30 tops on eBay maybe? Is it really worth bothering?? Bunch of cheap cunts they are. One of the reasons that burglary has reduced in poor areas is cos nobody has anything worth anything to steal any more cos mass market electronics and second hand CDs are so cheap. Your PS3/X360 is about the only thing worth stealing nowadays.
