Win a pair of STIR tickets! (Oct 12)

Postby Sperge on 23 Aug 2007, 16:42

We have a pair of tickets for STIR, the official post-Glade party being held at Heaven nightclub in Charing Cross. :)

See stir-line-up-t4409.html for more details.

To win the tix, all you have to do is suggest a name for our future site, which will incorporate GladTalk (i.e. GladTalk will still be GladTalk) but also embrace a web magazine, tunes shop and online radio station. It will be all about the music that appeals to Glade people - psy, breaks, techno, acid-tech, mashcore, gabba, wrong music etc.

So I thought it would be a good idea to have a competition to see who can come up with the best name for such a site. It doesn't mean that the winning entry will necessarily be the one actually used, but the winner does of course get the tickets. It also doesn't have to be a descriptive name, abstract suggestions are equally welcome.

Winners to be announced on 1 October 2007.

OK, let's suppose the site is called http://www.radiojemo.com

What I would do is have a link to "Glade forums" and people clicking that would be directed to GladTalk. In other words, GladTalk will continue in its own right regardless of what else happens.

Ran Glade festival through an anagram generator, and came up with:

Skills

Purelybelter.co.uk would be more "fitting" and "traditional" but belter is far easier to remember :D

Apparently it has been taken if you follow the link. These cybersquatters move fast. :?

People can suggest whatever they like for the competition, but bear in mind that the site I have in mind isn't specifically about Glade, I'm keeping the name GladTalk for that. The site will be about the music and the scene in general, including other festivals and nights, plus things like interviews with the DJs etc.

I rather like this idea so I checked for available domains...

According to Argeweb, for http://www.nos. the following domains are available: .se, .jp, .st, .to, .vu, .lu, .ag, .by, .dj, .fm, .io

Obviously none of them are very memorable, with the possible exception of http://www.nos.dj (for obvious reasons).

For http://www.nationofsound. argeweb currently lists only two domains that are currently in use - .com and .net. both are owned by the same music site which is currently "under construction" - so if we're going to go for this name then there's little time, but since it's so similar I think we may have been pipped at the post.

My personal preferences would be for http://www.nationofsound.co.uk, .org, .org.uk or .eu

As an alternative, no-one has yet claimed "Nation Of Mayhem" (http://www.nationofmayhem) which, if it's ok (I realise it's very similar to Nation Of Sound), I'd like to enter as my suggestion - since my idea is based partly on theirs I'd want bongobil1 to have the other ticket.

Oh, and NOS.tv is owned by a whipped cream supplier (funny that...)
